I can confirm
@Ken_Rosenthal
report that #Dodgers and #Reds have discussed trades with the intention of clearing salary for LA. Puig, Kemp, Wood and Hill have all been discussed, presumably allowing them to take on more money like Kluber’s $17.5M and possibly Harper

I dont like salary dumps for players who can provide actual value. Like dumping agons ans McCarthy's salaries made sense last year. But using puigs, woods, or hills value to create extra room when the team can outright afford both harper and Kluber with them considering pur financial strengths and that we reset the tax last year is whatever to me
I get it if it turns into scooter gennett. But outside of that I'm not a fan

Wood for Gennett. Sold.

bullshite that the agents get heyman, marosi, and nightengale to throw out there.

I think Puig is more likely. Wood seems to be a piece used in the Kluber deal
Posted on 12/11/18 at 5:48 pm to WestCoastAg
frick all that. Reds need arms.

Yall could absolutely also use outfielders
I dont think miami could do that

Seems the #Mets are getting the ultimatum from the #Marlins- send Thor to the #Yankees or we’ll send Realmuto to one of your other rivals. Not MIA’s job to do NYM any favors here.

Not as much as we could use starting pitching. WInker and Schebler are serviceable and Trammell isn't too far off. There's also talk of putting Senzel in the OF, but if Scooter gets moved, he probably takes over there.

fricking Jeter.

I guess the point I was making was that while relatively speaking yall need pitching more than outfielders, yall truly need players like puig more. He would immediately become yalls best outfielder and, statistically speaking, I dont think its very close. Im sure yall would rather have wood, but I dont think yall would say no to Puig just because yall would rather have wood
Posted on 12/11/18 at 6:40 pm to WestCoastAg
Yeah I know. I just want Wood because he comes at a smaller salary and fills a position of greater need. Either way, I fully expect the Reds to bend over and take it raw like they have in every other trade they have made in the past five years, short of maybe sending Straily to Miami for Luis Castillo.

In one variation of this deal, #Dodgers would take back Homer Bailey from #Reds and his remaining $28M commitment as a way of buying prospects. Bailey’s CBT number (average annual salary in multi-year deal) is $17.5M. Deal complex, still in discussion, not close.

In different variations of trade talks with #Reds, #Dodgers could also include the #Indians in the deal with combination of Cincinnati and LA prospects going to Cleveland, and #Dodgers landing Corey Kluber

To expand, a MLB outfielder (Puig? Kemp?) and a pitcher (Wood? Hill?) would go to Cincinnati in a three-team deal with #Dodgers getting Kluber.

And, I presume, prospects? Else why would Cincy do that on an expiring deal like Puig's?

Happ and Phillies “getting closer to a deal” per NY Post
If Yanks miss out on him surely they’ll be trading for a big arm
