Naw, he doesn't.
Either way, Im not talking about only this year, bruh.
We were talking if he belonged to be grouped in with the elite pitchers you can count on two hands. He doesn't. Group him in the next tier if you wish.
Since 2008, here is where he ranks in FIP according to Fangraphs.
2008 - 17th
2009 - 1st
2010 - 20th
2011 - 9th
2012 - 1st
I don't believe Greinke is in the top five, but I think he can slide into the 8-10 area. It's not like he draws his success solely from pitching in the NL. He has already proven he can pitch in the AL and has the hardware to prove it.

I like Greinke. I know it sounds like I don't.
But there's your elite:
Verlander
Halladay
Felix
Weaver
Strasburg
Lincecum
Kershaw
Lee
Cain
Gio
Price
Those are my cant miss aces, proven to be consistent over multiple seasons.
Then you got the next tier:
Greinke
Hamels
Josh Johnson
CJ Wilson
CC
Lester
Gallardo
Wainwright
Haren
Guys like Zimmerman, Bumgarner etc are climbing the ranks. Still too young to tell

Lol@a 3.79 career ERA being close to 4.00.
Considering Gio is only 26 years old, and his first season in the majors was a 7.68 ERA, followed by his first full season in the majors of a 5.75, took him 3 great years just to get it to where it's at, but that's because he's young, another 2-3 years of posting what he's doing his career ERA is gonna be saltyyyy.

Well this thread went to shite in a hurry.

Sure did.
Some trades will fix it.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com handicaps the most likely destinations for Greinke and the Rangers top the list with 9-5 odds. The Red Sox are categorized as a longshot with 100-1 odds.

Lol @ you trying to big dog everyone in here. I'm fricking with Gyno for saying the same about Greinke.
Chill your fricking roll.

I thought you were fricking with me because of what I said about Shields and his 4.00 career ERA last page.

If the Rangers can get Greinke without trading Olt, I'm on board.
But I wouldn't include Olt in the trade.
No one has addressed how Greinke would fare against the Yankees in NYC in the middle of October? He was TERRIBLE in the playoffs last year. His ERA was around 6.50.

It does...given the last two World Series meltdowns. Gotta win this year.
ETA: But I get your sarcasm

I laugh at whoever pays Greinke 100-125 million and pray it isn't the Yankees making a dumb move

Milwaukee is #6 in Runs Scored, out of 16, that's bottom half?
Greinke pitches for MIL. Obviously I didn't include him in an argument about the competition he faces

Hasn't he basically said that he doesn't want to go to NYC or Boston? I think he isn't going to be a big market kind of guy.
Posted on 7/27/12 at 8:47 am to BigBoyTiger
Yeah but we all know money will do talking....
I think he get money from a smaller market team but you never know what happens when FA. Tigers came out of no where to sign prince

SSS!
He's only pitched in three games, but you are right, they haven't been very good.

I mean..who knows. Maybe the Rangers acquire him (they have been in love with him and Johnson for a very, very long time) and he is lights out.
I will look like an a-hole.
But I don't care.
I just want that flag to fly over the Ballpark.
