If Moreno had Ohio State's OL, this thread wouldn't exist.

Wow. OSU's OL (for a top 15 team) has been terrible the past 2-3 years.

What is the definition of a better runner as opposed to a better running back?

SFP makes me lol.

I like Wells too, I think he could easily be a 1500 yard back if he gets the carries.

wells had one really long run for a td off a busted play early in the game. knowshon definitely wins the "versus LSU award"

Outside of a given team to evaluate needs I'd probably take Moreno.

He has better vision and agility IMO and he's more durable.

Wells has missed a ton of games, but he does miss a ton of snaps. RBs already have a short shelf life Wells could peak within 2-3 years of his draft day.

Let's get it clear that Wells has not missed "a ton of games." If I remember correctly, he has missed 3 total games in his 3 years at OSU.

Now, I will say I think he can be a liability healthwise, but he played through a lot

runners know how to run. they know timing, follow blockers, know how to set up defenders, use their burst, etc

reggie bush is not a good runner, but he had the physical skills to just burn CFB defenders

wells is a better runner than reggie, but he has similar traits. he bounces too much outside and tries to rely on his superior athleticism against slow defenders more than setting up defenders

I would imagine it's like people who say Barry Sanders is the best runner ever, but Walter Payton is the best running back ever.

Wells had his game against a great (NC) defense. Moreno's was against a poorly coached defense. I don't think the two games are comparable. Wells is a big back with speed that doesn't come along that often.

IMO Wells > Moreno

You gotta admit, nice stiff arm on Chevis by Wells in the NC game.

You guys don't think Moreno is an injury risk as well. Seems like undersized guys like him that try to be power runners in the pros end up getting hurt quite often i.e. Cadillac Williams, Joseph Addai, and to some extent Marion Barber.

Considering that they had about the same number of starts in college, that's a valid point.

i still like the reggie example, just b/c it's become so clear the past couple years that he doesn't have good vision, he doesn't follow blockers, and he just tries to burn everyone

another good example of the opposite (limited physical skills but great RB b/c of his running skills) is travis "i must be Catholic" henry. that guy was short, slow, and a great runner

SFP I disagree about the vision thing. IMO Beanie bounces it outside BECAUSE he has the vision to see a play isn't going anywhere up the middle. Bush bounced it outside BEFORE looking to see the development in the middle because as you said, he could just outrun linemen and linebackers with ease, and he hasn't adjusted to the league. I understand what you are saying but I disagree with your assessment

i don't like that example cause he's a below-average runner and an even worse running back

you can be a good running back, especially in college, without these traits

just look at reggie bush

I like this assessment. It's a wash IMO. Both should be late first rounders.
