OKC won a ring. … damn near a decade after he left.
And he has two rings

You are correct. But he gave up his legacy to chase tag-a-long rings. No one at GS gives him credit they all say that team was already stacked and would win without him. He has no loyal following at GS/city. The other stops he was unable to win them rings.

You have to have been here to understand it. KD was the defacto star of the city and state. Only pro team statewide. First pro team in state. He woulda been a lifelong hero had he stayed and win a ring. But he chose to go to the team he melted down against. They didn’t recruit him to GS to win a title, they did it to prevent OKC from one, as their competition at the time.

Once KD left the mood was bad. A month later everyone was expecting the other shoe to drop with Russ leaving. But Russ made a decision to stay and cemented his name in local folklore. Love him or hate him he kept the team viable after KD left and gave fans something to cheer. And Presti time to think ahead to the rebuild.

Russ was able to convince PG to come. Later in Presti parlayed PG into the deal that got SGA. There were so many moves Presti made but it all was possible because Russ stayed.

So for KD to watch us hanging our banner is sweat justice. And you know the NBA planned this intentionally. I don’t think the league liked what KD did either. He was one of the first to leave a top team. Players have left middle and bottom teams but not top ones. It set bad precedence.

My guess is KD will have an owie and not make the trip. But he lost his chance to have a statue here and key to the state. A legacy that lasts forever. SGA now has that honor. Russ too.

You've got a point there.

Christmas fell on a Wednesday last year and they still played and dominated the ratings.

Even with the Rockets playing, I will still be choosing football. The games are just more entertaining now.
