The playoff regulation record is 63 (shared between Roy and Parent). Halak had a game in the neighborhood of Roy and Parent. Seriously, this was one of the all-time great goalie performances.
What do you do differently if you're the Caps? Nothing. If you fire 54 shots in Game 7, you will win by about 10 goals. Halak just had a monster game.

It's possible that the 6,7, and 8 seeds could all advance in the East. That would be insane. It's funny that the one series everyone counted on to be a blowout is going to 7 while all of the others have been decided. Boston could end up with home ice; that's insane. I think the Caps will win game 7, but wow, definitely an unexpected turn over the last two games. I'm interested to see who Caps fans think is at fault here (even if they advance). Boudreaux? Ovechkin? There's certainly a lack of leadership somewhere. And it's not like this is the first time they've done this...
