Actually now that I think about it, I'd love to see the Cards face off against Philly in the 1st round. I think they'd have as good a chance (slim) as anybody to knock the Phils out.
If Philly starts issuing walks to Pooholes and Holliday / Berkman makes them pay for it things could get interesting.

Add in that Philly has a vested interest in the Braves not making the post season (gives them an easier road to the NLCS)
yeah, I'm sure the Phillies are really worried about a team with no starting pitching depth, a tired bullpen, and an on-again, off-again offense.
not to mention a team that's playing horrible baseball going into the postseason.
Not saying the Phils are scared of the Braves, not at all. IMHO the Phils would rather see a non-NL east team win the wildcard so Philly gets the wc matchup first round as opposed to playing one of the other two division winners. The wild card team can't play the winner of their division 1st round.

been very interesting to see the Cardinals down the stretch this year. Last year of course they closed the second half with an absolute whimper... and only a couple weeks ago the wolves were circling Larussa talking about his meddling and overmanaging style
But no matter what your issues were ... winning games tends to fix them
2011 season will be an interesting one in retrospect for the Cardinals. Pujols playing so well down the stretch has probably dismissed the earlier concerns that he was fading/aging and will end up getting him a massive free agent contract in somewhere other than STL.
But we won't know for 4 plus years (probably 8 or more) if him walking ends up being a net positive or negative. If the Cardinals organization goes out and makes smart replacement acquisitions then they will look pretty smart (or at least defensible). If they don't go out and spend money (and spend it smartly) then the fanbase may very well revolt

I see it going down to the last day and an upset win by Houston sends the braves into the playoffs. Go ahead and laugh I am
