I'm not saying the UL system shouldn't have a flagship, but as it stands right now, they don't and, because it is such a shite show, probably never will.

Where does UNO rank among the schools since they left the LSU system for the UL system?

I've attempted several trolls in my day, but never have I been as successful as you were in this thread.

Not as much as I used to.

can you explain to me why the posters there refer to to ULM as the "Hoax"?
They are probably being pissed at ULM for raising a stink about the name issue. Also, ULM is a much smaller school with a smaller athletic budget and with a narrower enrollment focus (ULL is a research university, while ULM is regional). I think some of our fans don't like being compared to them in any capacity.

According to various rankings, no.

Well, what exactly were they expecting when USL basically bribed NLU with new facilities so that they could find another school to adopt the "UL-city" name?
That's what I don't understand.
I'm seriously not trying to take shots at UL-L. I just find the way things played out fascinating.

Merging LA Tech and ULM is one of the many cost-saving moves which would be excellent for Louisiana. But in the world of government entitlements, you can't go back or "subtract" even when it is warranted.

I'm just glad the name issue is effectively dead. As an alum, would I like it to be called UL? Sure. But it's an issue that we need to move on from.

Now back to my question, why does UL-L hate ULM so much when it was the Monroe campus that pretty much enabled USL to change its name to UL-L?
Because I'd have preferred continuing on with USL instead of the compromise of being tied at the hip with a university that just consolidated 5 of its colleges into 3, has a small endowment of $23 million, and is generally referred to as the JUCO.
Hopefully we would have made a better case down the road, and Louisiana politics would have subsided by then. I'm not advocating we should be the flagship of the ULS, but we meet most of the flagship criteria with the exception of being the oldest member. We put the most money into research by far, largest enrollment, our admission criteria is more selective each passing year, etc.
But you wake up, you're UL hyphen L...and you turn and see your ugly arse conjoined twin with missing teeth and a bum arm. Every time you start hitting on some girl, ULM turns and spits all over while trying to introduce themselves. That's why we dislike ULM so much.
Disclaimer: My views do not reflect the views of all hyphenated fans. Just giving you perspective into my train of thought. I'll await the many quote +

I'd merge Tech and Grambling before Tech and ULM.
You don't need two separate schools in the same system that are 5 miles away from each other.

I've never heard anybody other than Cajun fans referring to ULM as "juco", so i dont know about them being generally referred to as that

How does all of this compare to UNO now that they are in the UL system?
I honestly don't know.

I think it is true pie-in-the-sky to talk about merging Grambling and SUNO. We saw how the plan to do so with the latter was cut off at the pass. But you aren't wrong...

Not sure about admission criteria, but UNO had a small endowment last I checked (around 20 million). ULL's enrollment is also much higher, and it's older than UNO.

To be fair, a lot of LSU people on TD refer to ULL as the JUCO too.

Do you realize that even if the Rev Jackson would allow such a thing, Tech would have to significantly lower their Admission standards. Besides, if Grambling wasn't a "historical black college" it wouldn't exist cause it's run very poorly.
