they didnt 'let him go'- they traded him for Edinson Volquez, whom may be on his way to winning a Cy Young in his own right....great trade all around....ok maybe the Rangers got a little better of the deal..but its not like the Reds got nothing in return.

A guy who plays everyday, or a guy who pitches every 5th day. I would rather the everyday player.

Well, in fairness, it's not like they got some scrub for him. In fact, they got one of the best young pitchers in all of baseball.
