It's not a tight play, it's the correct play. Just because someone folds a hand doesn't mean they are playing tight. Not to mention this is day 2 of a week long tournament.

what day would you say is a good time to open it up and use that tight image you've worked several days on and get aggressive?

in my early undergrad i banked consistently on small-mid stakes games all the way til about last year at this time. made cover of ohio state newspaper, was winning between 1-5k a month for 3 years, etc...
then the game started to dry up, players started to get better, and i was just making small profits...so i dont play much anymore.
im not going to lie, it feels good to hear players post similar problems.

I encourage you guys that don't get as much profit anymore on the main sites to play at sportsbook.com if you can avoid sports gambling and the online casino you will profit. The players will probably remind you of the players 3 or 4 years ago. As most of them are primary sports bettors.

The image only works if you're still at the same table you were 2 days ago which is basically no chance of hapenning with that field. The decision to start hammering the table also depends on your stack relative to blinds and antis as well as how the table is playing (loose/agressive)however saying you have developed a tight image and all things equal you should wait till around 1000 left IMO. People are going to be watching the board more and more when the number of remaining entrants gets to 3 digits so I personally would plan to start throwing chips around at this point. There are a lot of other factors that would come into play as well though to make my decision. Definately before the money bubble regardless.

It's true, I hear about it more and more. I just got back into it after about 2 years off, and it's WAY harder at the small stakes then it was before.
A few years ago, it seems like there was 6 or 7 players to the pot EVERY hand, raise or not. And you could just wait til u got 2 premium cards or flopped a monster and you was certain to win a big pot.
Now i'm not saying small stakes players are just awesome now, but it seems a lot harder nowadays to get someone to come along when I hit a big hand.
All I know is i'm gonna figure out how to at least make a little money at some point, lol.

so... he just said he was playing tight for the frick of it? ok gotcha
it was tight. that is all i am saying.
whether the said play was wrong or right can be debated on a variety of different factors. i was not there to witness or give enough of a shite to debate at this point.

yeah that sounds about right definitely enough time before the money to chip up nicely. and hopefully you don't have a bunch of Brandon Cantus at your table.

Interesting.
I wanna go to Stars because they have so many players and tables and a vast array of tourneys that I wanna start playing in more.
But that is an interesting theory you got, I may have to look into it.

They have enough tournaments and the scheduled tournaments on there is where I found the best return on investment in the 5 rebuys to 55 dollar freeze out range. The sit and gos arent bad either.

yeah hes an ok dude for sure. i wished him luck. never thought asking about someones tight plsy could lead to such a pointless frickin debate.

I agree....if you play on Bet US on a Sunday night during football season and play SUPER tight,I mean the definition of a rock but worse, you will cash in about 90% of the tables....they pay our 4 of 10. Its all drunk guys that won money on football and want to keep gambling. IT IS SO EASY!

Nice.
The biggest reason I wanna go from FT to Stars is the blind structures. On FT, basically every tourney in the $5 range starts at 1500 and blinds go up every 6 minutes. I dont know how, but I used to do really well on the SnGs. I tried a few and got burned with the blinds going up so fast.
On Stars, they have SnGs that are 10 minute blinds, seems much better for me.
Same goes for MTTs. On FT, 1500 chips and 12 minute blinds, I think. On Stars, it varies, but i've seen some 3000 chips and lots of 15 minute blinds. I MUCH prefer the longer blind structures cause I tend to play tight, at least I think I do, LOL.

do you play cash games or SNGs or mtt?

All 3.
But mainly about 75% cash games, and 25% in the tournies.
Though i'd really like to start doing better and trying to play more MTTs.
