They were first in the West before Gasol got there last year. Gasol was also a defensive liability in the playoffs last year, so it's not like he was some magical spark for a Finals berth.

Kobe has admited it himself that they don't make it without Gasol!!!

The Lakers were #1 in the West for a brief time last year before Bynum went down. They were in a slump due to bynum's injury before the Gasol trad.e If the Gasol trade weren't made, especially since Bynum ended up out for the year, the Lakers would've finished with a 6-8 seed and a first round exit.

Gasol actually outplayed Choke Garnett in the Finals.

Because he was a replacement player almost. Gasol's ability as a player was secondary to filling in for Bynum.

Dirk doesn't have a title, although he should.

He is also NOT a PF. He is a shooting forward.

Warriors just made some fluky shots. I'd be deflated too if a team hit a bunch of halfcourt bullshite fluky jumpers.

As for '06, riggged. Besides, Dirk wasn't guarding Whistle.

My 2 cents:

1. Kobe is a better all around player than Lebron. He plays boths sides of the floor.
2. The NBA championship is a team accomplishment. For instance, Jordan never won anything without Pippen by his side. (As a side note, Pippen has had more "team playoff" success than Jordan, More wins, more conference championship appearances - look it up)
3. The 2006 Finals were markedly one-sided with the calling. That's common knowledge. There is a reason that series was the first one every one thought of when the ref scandal broke even though the said ref never participated in those finals.

I will NOT deny this, HOWEVER Wade was BEAST in that series and some people think the Mavs should have won. I watched the games and didn't see where the refs were SO bad that it was RIGGED by the NBA!!!! The BOTTOM line with that is the Mavs were up 2-0 and CHOKED!!! The Refs DIDNOT win every game for the HEAT!!!

Lebron shoots layups dumbarse. Kobe shoots jumpers mostly

Yes I know, and your point is?

So you're on record saying You would prefer a jump shooter who shoots 45% over a guy who shoots mostly layups at 50%???

Is this some sort of bizarro world or are you really not seeing how dumb that is?

For some reason, I think I'd prefer Lebron in the first 47 minutes of a game and Kobe in the final minute of a game. I dunno why, just the vibe I got after seeing Lebron make plays in the final minute v the Hawks and Wizards (crab dribble) this year.

However, Lebron is pretty clutch. .. I'd just feel more comfortable with Kobe because of his jump shot (in teh final minute).

While I agree that Kobe has cemented his claim as the current guy you want to have the ball and take the LAST shot.

BUT, that is not ALL that being clutch entails. If you look up there "clutch" stats in the final 5 minutes of close games, LBJ completely blows Kobe away in EVERY major category. Maybe if Kobe grabbed boards, assists, steals, blocks and shot a higher FG% in those last 5 minutes, then his team would be up by 5 points and he wouldn't need to hit that game winner.
