This is Feds first loss after winning the first 2 sets is it not? I think he was like 180-0 or something unreal.

Yea there are so many guys like that in tennis. It’s what makes it so entertaining and also so frustrating. I still maintain when he was on Safin was as good a tennis player as anyone who ever lived!

That's a pretty bold statement to make about the Grand Slam record holder. I think it's just as physical as mental.

Safin was a beast. He would have been a good one for that thread the other day about athletes who could have accomplished a lot more than they did

I would have agreed with you a couple years ago, but he’s not the only one who’s been suggesting such a thing recently. When Federer was playing the likes of Roddick and Hewitt he was absolute money in the big points and had the “ice in his veins” kind of persona. Now that he’s up against some competition though, he’s really been faltering in crucial situations. Go look at almost every match he and Rafa play. The only difference is in break points converted and unforced errors.

Some of this definitely can be due to his age, but he doesn’t have that invincible aura and mentality anymore.

He’s always my favorite when threads like that happen. I must have missed it . That guy’s athleticism at his size should have been outlawed. He was like Matt Jones on a tennis court.

I'd say it more age then anything. Give me Fed 4 years ago over anyone right now.
