But Kiffin would have found a way to keep a lot of those players on the team.

Charlie Strong and Peterson at Boise, they want a proven head coach, and they will pay whatever to get him..

not bad choices. As you know, Tennessee has a boatload of money and can hire a great coach and staff, certainly better than this dumpster fire right now...

Tennessee needs to go get them someone like Tosh Lupoi. Maybe not as HC but pay him a shitload of money to be on their staff. Dude is a beast recruiter.

No doubt,he was a knee jerk hire anyway,Kiffin left with just a month and a half left before signing day, they had to do something.

yeah, they were desperate at the time. Dooley was like their 6th choice if I recall. They were getting turned down left and right...

why?

it's quite the dead end job. a good stepping stone for a guy making a mark in a BCS conference for the first time, or a good retirement parachute for an older coach, but why would a big name go there?

They would absolutely have to have a HR hire, ala Gruden. The things that made them a power are largely no longer applicable and they've been passed up.

This. Tennessee's time has largely come and gone.

I hope not, although I'm starting to feel sorry for them.
