Agreed. Joe got selfish asking AJ to pitch the 6th but in all honesty, he was making poor decisions the whole series. Horribly managed series by Girardi.

I would not trade a proven commodity like Gardner for a middle relief pitcher. Especially since they are so hit or miss year to year.
Yankees have enough young pitching that one should be able to develop and if they resign Wood then he is the new 8th inning guy.

There's no question Gardner is a good 4th outfielder to have and I didn't say that they would trade him now but look for them to trade him during next season, especially if they sign Crawford. Outfield is a strength of the Yankees and their farm system so it would not be unreasonable to think they would trade Gardner for bullpen help next year IF they need it. And as of now, they are not planning on picking Kerry Wood and his $11 million option for next year.

He is better than a 4th outfielder, he is a starter, especially if he continues to put up numbers like he did this past season. I know many get caught up on power numbers and that is not something Gardner will ever do but he gets on base and steals bases. He is a very good defensive outfielder and can still get better.

Yeah, every time the Yanks throw dollars at a pitcher, it works.

Javier Vazquez? Kevin Brown? Randy Johnson? Carl Pavano?

This is what the Yankees do. They go sogn some guy who just whipped their arse...at least with Pavano and Johnson.

Those guys were overrated and/or not NY caliber players.

That being said...who the frick says Cliff Lee wants to be a Yankee?

I think someone in his family is married/related to Lee, I remember him talking about it during the trading deadline.
