1. Lebron

2. Dwight
3. Wade
4. Dirk
5. Rose

I know this board loves to shite on Rose, but he's been great, IMO.

He is great.

ANd I feel bad, cause I mainly get annoyed with the media/people who just hop on the media bandwagon. And while he is great, I don't think he remotely deserved MVP.

That being said, a lot of my hatred comes out on him when it shouldn't be at all. In fact, he's probably a top 2 or 3 favorite player in terms of just a fun/exciting to watch player.

And we have the same top 4.

Has Lebron? Maybe 1?

Lebron 1 for 8
Wade 0 for 5

I think that's their numbers.

But you said, if you're not taking the last shot, it's not your team, so you do think it is Lebron's team, correct?

2 I believe. He's also taken more and took the only game winner attempt for the Heat in the playoffs as shel just posted. This contradicts what you posted.

5 is a good place for Rose. And I don't know if anyone is "shitting" on him. The people who think he's best player in the NBA or the best scorer are grossly overrating him.

Seriously. This is amazing to me.

Everyone has Kobe moving down 3-4 spots because of the last week. That is the dumbest fricking thing I have ever heard, and literally makes me think half of the people in this thread are completely retarded. It's just insane.

If you had Kobe at #2 before this series (regardless if I agreed with that or not), then he should almost assuredly be your #2 going into Game 4 of the series. I can't be wrong here, can I?

I don't think my top 5 has changed all season. I think there are a lot people guilty about the same thing, moving Dirk so far up their lists. However, I think the situations with Dirk and Kobe are a little different. That being said, Dirk was my #4 player going into this series, and he is still #4 for me now. And that won't change because of one series.

I'm of the opinion that a solid argument can be made for MVP for a number of players every year based on what criteria is most significant.

To me, it's how well an individual performed to give his team success, and then weighted with how much success the team had as relative to how well the individual performed.

In Rose's case, he shouldered practically all of the burden on a team that achieved the best record in the regular season. I know their defense/rebounding/coaching had a lot to do with it, but that team doesn't work without him.

Similar arguments could be made about Dwight Howard, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, etc.

The Bulls were much better because of Rose than the Magic were because of Howard, IMO. And there's no way anyone can convince me that either one of the superfriends is more valuable to the Heat than the other.

Therefore, in my mind, Rose did enough to deserve being the MVP.

But I can totally see the case for Howard/Lebron/Wade based on separate criteria.

Even tho Lebron is clearly the best player on that team and in the league...I myself have a hard time believing that the players around them don't refer to Wade as their leader.

Now is leader the same as 'it being his team' dunno.

That's my point

This probably adds nothing to the discussion, but my buddy, a huge Thunder fan, text me at the end of the game saying "he wishes Durant was more like Westbrook sometimes."

Implying that he would force shots etc.

I chuckled, but didn't want to say anything because I knew it was an agonizing loss.

As if Durant doesn't generally just jack up a shite ton of shots.

So your point has completely changed in about 5 minutes, that's exactly what you're saying.

HOMERUN POST!!!

I have moved Dirk up, but mostly throughout the season, not just based on the last few games.

Durant's problem is his small frame and his inability to get open in clutch spots, forcing Westbrook ot have to take shots late, IMO.

The difference between Kobe and Dirk is that people's view of Kobe RIGHT NOW is built from his past championships, not as much what he did this season. People were just holding on to the rope, not wanting to let go.

Dirk, on the other hand, has never really been on a lot of people's radars. People are just starting to realize how good he is. They weren't paying enough attention before. Now, they are assuming that his play in the post-season is reflective of his play in the regular season (which is pretty accurate), so they are ranking him accordingly.

Like I said, sort of the same and not the same at the same time. Dirk is no doubt the best player in the West though, and has been all season long.
