Baseball was already passed by the NFL when Selig got the job. He's just trying to keep it relevant.

frick that, its his call. He's the head honcho. He's proved that with his arrogance over the years. If he wanted the refs back, they'd be back. And that's not the only thing that he's doing to ruin the game. All the bullshite rules, penalties, fines, and suspensions to preserve "player safety" are ruining the game too, especially when its clear he really doesn't give a shite about player safety when you see stuff like him pushing for the 18 game season when the players clearly don't want that.

Gary Betmann has him beat. Not all of this is on Roger though. These things hurt Roger in PR.
1. Players union got a competent union head.
2. The owners are playing hard ball about everything
3. Recession
4. He followed 2 likable people
5. Litigation by former players
6. Exposure of everything that past commish and owners didn't have.
I think he is an employee not the employer mostly right now.
