I think you are wrong but close...
Rick Barnes is the king.
1 FF
0 NC
With all that talent and resources
Historically it is toss up between Guy Lewis and Ralph Miller.

Gene Keady is up there. Never went to a final 4

2009 team might have been the best ever

Underachieved, sure. But overrated? I don't recall Barnes ever mentioned in the same breath as other great coaches of this era.
Plus, his lone Final Four is the only one Texas has had since the 40s. No one else has done much with their resources either.

Usually when somebody says somebody is overrated it also means that person is really good. In this case it applies to Roy Williams, who is a great coach, but slightly overrated. How he didn't win one National Title with a couple of those Kansas teams is unreal. They were loaded.

Don't forget Dean Smith-- it s a Carolina Tradition.
The reason he won so many games, is because his teams were simply phenomenal-- until it mattered.
Then, he became Roy Williams.

What are your coaching credentials?

Why does Roy get so much hate for his failures at Kansas and UNC but Dean Smith is god?
He won two national titles in over 30 years and consistently choked in the Final Four.
He has 11 final Four appearances and 2 titles...Coach K has 12 and 5 titles...Wooden has 12 and 10 titles.
Smith came up short just as much as Roy did at Kansas.

williams is a bit over-rated, as was smith ...
barnes? ... no one ever thought his teams were title contenders ... hardly over-rated ... under-achieved, sure ...
boheim? ... guy has a ring and several ff appearances ... and not because he got great talent ...
the answer to the question has been and will always be lou carnesecca from st johns ...

Williams’ .800 winning percentage as a head coach ranks fourth all-time, behind Clair Bee, Adolph Rupp and John Wooden.
His seven Final Four appearances also rank fourth, behind Wooden, Smith and Mike Krzyzewski.
He ranks third in tournament victories, behind Krzyzewski and Smith.
Roy also won his two titles in half the time it took godly Dean...and didn't need 11 final fours to win two titles like Smith.

Dean didn't cheat his arse off and wasn't dirty as frick, only to get away it with because he coaches at "storied programs" and looks like a Baptist minister. Dean and Roy may have coached at the same school, but Dean wasn't dirty.

He's not a very good in-game coach. It's probably pretty easy to recruit kids to North Carolina.

Roy's win percentage is a little unfairly inflated since his first job was at Kansas

How do you you know Smith didn't cheat?
That was the enrire era before any oversight before the mid- 1980's.
Nobody cared. UCLA was accused. Carolina was accused...hell LSU in football had the original Reggie Bush - taking bribes and agent payments while still playing for their natty team...you think LSU is vacating that title with Billy Cannon?
I dont think so. I haven't heard one peep of solidarity among colleges. They just all hope it goes away. But Billy Cannon and Reggie Bush did the same thing and nobody cares because one was old and one was new.
So I am sure Dean Smith got away with a lot of crap because it was old and non-internet age.

Calipari is up there as well.
Posted on 2/19/16 at 1:22 am to HarrisLetsRide
To guys who get it and the big ones and get it done....
Saban gets it done more often than not even accounting for his pro failure.
Pete Carroll was 7-1 in major BCS bowl games and 1-1 in the super bowl. So he eclipses Saban as winning against the best in the world and not just college scrubs.
Coach cal also gets it down despite everyone hating him...
Botchy...SF giants.
BB bringing it every year...no matter what.
Those are the 4 best coaches.

Baseball managers are glorified cheerleaders. And Calipari has 1 title despite having nothing but all americans ever year.
