Outperformed how many of the qualifiers? Your looking at an unequal sample size (9 automatics to 3 picks this year).
Captains picks were pretty poor in the Cup this year.

Does the champions tour have a Ryder cup? If not there should be one because we would dominate that shite. Bernhard langer is all they got...soon to be the mechanic also.

We had a good month and a half for Ryder Cup hopefuls to fight their way onto the team. No surprise that Pat Reed, who briefly fell out of the top 9, earned his way back on. But everyone else crumbled. Who can you say earned their way on as a captain's pick? Hunter won one fluke tournament, Keegan kept missing cuts but made it because of 2012, and Webb won a major two years ago, so I guess that's why he was picked.

I think we should consider the history and do this: make a qualifying system and require the captain to take 10 of the top 20 in that system, and then 2 free picks.

Maybe I'm a little out of it, but why do we have a system where the FedEx Cup Champion isn't on the Ryder Cup team?

As a European ex pat with no interest in golf I just came to wish the USA better luck next time. I'm sure your boys will get the hang of this game soon and make it in to a contest.

Points qualification ends before the conclusion of FedEx, but I'm not sure why. I don't understand why they can't make the cutoff latter. These guys have the wherewithal to make or unmake plans on a moments notice.

The Ryder Cup is run by the PGA, not the PGA Tour.
