Harper is never going to hear the end of that. Maybe for the rest of his life.

Bradford has had a great year considering SJax is the only talent around him .. Amendola is a decent slot WR but the rest are junk

Greg Cook.
Led the AFL in passer rating
Led the AFL in yards per attempt
Led the AFL in yards per completion
Led the league in completion percentage
He accomplished all that despite blowing out his shoulder in the third game of his rookie season. He was never the same after that. Bill Walsh called him the most talented QB he's ever coached. This coming from a man who's coached Ken Anderson, Joe Montana and Steve Young. Cook might have gone down as the GOAT without the shoulder injury or if he had played in today's game with the advancements in technology.

Ben Rapelessburger had a QB rating of almost 100 his rookie year and that team won 15 games. He gets my vote for best rookie QB/best season for a rookie QB
game manager to the tee.

quote:not really. I addressed this point already. He threw downfield quite a bit and they ran a lot of gadget plays.

He wasnt a game manager at all

isn't he still the worst statistical QB to ever win the SB? (stats during the SB)
Posted on 12/12/10 at 10:21 pm to Acreboy
I think so, but what does that have to do with anything? He wasnt a rookie during his first SB

I saw in the ESPN article that Dan Marino was the 6th QB taken in the 1983 draft. I know that John Elway and Jim Kelly were two of the six and legit in their own right, but how could that many teams pass over Marino? It's not like he flew under the radar in college.

It's always fun to go back and look at old drafts
QBs taken in First Round of 1983 draft:
John Elway, 1
Todd Blackledge, 7
Jim Kelly, 14
Tony Eason, 15
Ken O'Brien, 24
Dan Marino, 27

I was in HS and will never forget watching that draft. I think it was the first one ESPN ever televised.
Everybody said Elway would be #1, no surprise. But team after team kept passing on Marino -- I couldn't understand what was going on. I specifically remember being absolutely dumbfounded when the Chiefs took Todd Blackledge over Marino.
Marino had been injured his senior year, I figured that had to be it. There is an infamous clip of football expert "Dr. Z" on the ESPN broadcast criticizing the Dolphins right after the pick: "Who's gonna teach him?"
I was out of the loop. What I didn't know -- there being no internet -- was that Marino had been a total cokehead at Pitt and that story was all around the NFL. Shula even called Marino's college coach to check on the rumors -- as he admitted in an NFL Films interview.

The first seven picks in the 1983 draft.
Most interesting now for the beginning of the John Elway Not-In-Baltimore melodrama.
At the very end of video #3 you can see the Chiefs select Todd Blackledge over Marino and Jim Kelly.

If I were a Rams fan, I'd be excited about the direction of this team. They are starting to put it together. I expect them to dominate the NFC west next year...not that it's saying much to do that

Great stuff. If it was public knowledge that he was on drugs, that would explain it a little better.
