They couldn’t wait 3 weeks and save $7.5 million? Holy crap. This team wasn’t going to win crap anyway

Frost may have waived the money or accepted somewhere in between the two amounts.

Dare I say he should thank George O'Leary for recruiting that team?

$7.5 million that’s why. I can’t take shite for 3 more weeks

But it’s not like Nebraska has to fire him today. The conversation is probably like “Look Scott you can leave today for $9-10M or grind it out three weeks and only get $7.5M”

The writing is on the wall. Frost’s only leverage is forcing the university to have him as coach for 3 more games in an already lost season, so he pretty much has no leverage.

Gotta give the man's character credit though. Just two or three years after winning a national championship he walks away from it all to return home and save his team from the 7th circle of loser hell.

Man, live comes at you fast sometimes.

Maybe they worked out a deal to where Frost won't get the full 7.

Frost probably already knew he was weeks away from being fired. He probably approached the AD and said to let's just get it over with instead of delaying the inevitable

These comments about the 7.5 mil buyout are cracking me up.
There's so much frick you money out there, you think these people give a shite about 7 mil?

I think Mark Stoops could go in there and absolutely resurrect that program and make them a contender. How in the shite he's done what he's done at Kentucky is a damn miracle. At Nebraska, the support is off the charts. At UK, football will always play second fiddle to basketball.

I'm assuming this was negotiated down. These things go both ways. Once Frost and his players knew he was going to be fired regardless, it's hard to keep walking into that locker room and motivate players and hear the boo birds in the stands.

It likely went something like this: "Scott, I can make you work 3 more of the most miserable weeks of your life, or we can agree to part ways now. Either way, I'm going to pay you the same buyout."

Not sure if he can get all those Ohio kids (20 on the UK roster) to Nebraska.

If I’m Frost why make a deal?

Because Frost was going to get paid something in the range of 7.5 million either way. He could either be forced to work through 3 more miserable games and then get 7.5 mil, or he could agree to take 7.5 mil right now and walk away. There was no option where he was going to be given a full 15 mil buyout.
