Baffles me too. I still can't figure out how you guy's lost the games you lost during the regular season i.e Patterson, Comeaux. It's a mystery.
Mostly it has been the weather...
With all the speed we couldn't run the ball like we wanted to because we just kept slipping all over the field.
I don't think we won a game in the rain this year.

Westgate is an anomoly. Best 5-4 team I have seen in my life
The first year Lutcher won State in this current run, (they won a few titles in the early 80's or thereabouts) they went in with a record very similar to that. It was around 2003 I think.
Dang, now I gotta go back and check. Did a search and it says they were undefeated in the regular season in 2003. I know on one of their deep playoff runs they went into the playoffs with a record similar to 5-4.

It was '03...I went to Parkview and that was my senior year. We were 13-0 and #1 in the state the entire year. We lost to Notre Dame in the dying seconds and both teams figured that was the championship. Then Notre Dame just didn't show up to play against Lutcher and Lutcher took it home. They were a pretty low seed and I think they were 5-5.

Westgate '07 5-5
They were the #29 seed. Went all the way to the semis. Lost to #1 Destrehan.

With the seeding system there is an opportunity for teams (especially in the lower classifications) to get points by playing up and/or playing teams with a lot of wins in pre-district. This has the double benefit of toughening the team up for a playoff run and helping them get into the playoffs/helping with seeding.

watch out for catholic over WM. im not saying they are going to win but it will be a game. no one thought they would make it this far but they have. its the playoffs ... its a whole new season. who cares how many recruits WM has. they try to use the intimidation factor to win games but catholic has a solid team. a little weak on defense it seems.

“Talent-wise, we don’t belong here,” said Weiner, whose Bears scored their seventh semifinal berth in his 23 seasons. “Our guys don’t know that.”

It was 2003. Finished the season 6-4 and got the #15 seed. Knocked off an undefeated Chalmette team with "thunder and lightning" in the 2nd round then went to Amite and beat I believe another undefeated Amite team in the semis. Had former Southern WR Gerard Landry (older brother of Jarvis) and LA Tech TE Dustin Mitchell at QB. Rolando Melancon's freshmen year too.

Possible change in location in the Rummel vs. Westgate location.
Word is that LG Porter is under water. Game being moved to ULL.
