I'd be willing to bet the Yanks will need at least 5 to hang on.

But they should be able to get at least one more across.

Mo scares me in this game for some reason.

Sabathia is supposedly going to work the 6th according to a Red Sox blog.

That's scary seeing as what happened he went out for "one more inning" against Oakland last week.

Chavez should DH against right handers and Andruw should DH against lefties.

CC just can not get an easy inning.

This is how he's going to have to pitch if we see Boston or Texas in the playoffs. He's going to get hit, he just needs to find a way to get out of it, like he is tonight.

CC very fortunate to have only given up 2 runs to this point. He was in trouble every inning, but did a good job to get out of trouble with strikeouts.

The problem is that CC will be going against the other team's ace. If CC gives up two runs in 6 innings while throwing over 120 pitches, then he will lose to Verlander, Lester, Beckett or Wilson in most cases.

Not really. Lester has been pretty much a 6 inning guy this year against the Yankees.

Verlander and Wilson are also beatable if CC gives up two runs.

More than 2? Yeah, the Yanks probably lose. But the Yanks have the firepower on offense to match two runs..

Needed that run, no matter who they got it.

Also, CC was just a hit or two away from giving up 5 plus runs and being yanked after 4 or so innings. A very Dice K kind of start for him. But you have to tip your cap to him for getting out of a lot of trouble with good pitches in critical times. I've just seen enough baseball to say that will catch up with him and it is playing with fire.

Assuming a healthy A-Rod in the playoffs the Yanks should be able to put up 2 on any starter in MLB over 6 innings.

Tex needs to get going as well - his dropoff average wise is a killer. I've heard he's saying his RBI numbers are solid and that's all that matters, but I disagree. When you have fricking A-Rod, Canoe, and Swisher following you in the batting order, your batting average and OBP are crucial.

I don't care if I'm wrong this time.

But how can you go to Soriano in a situation like this? Heart of the order? Facing a team you frankly suck balls against? In the heat of a pennant chase? Ridiculous, Girardi. You ever heard of a man named D-Rob?

I have such mixed feelings on Cervelli. Sometimes I love how fiery he is and sometimes I want to rip his head off.

I really liked him in 2009 though. I think he hit a shade over .350 with RISP that season and every one of those hits was at a much needed moment it seemed.

I'm concerned about our schedule the rest of the way.

Sox today & tomorrow
Jays @ Home: Friday - Sunday
Orioles @ Home: Monday - Wednesday
THEN on our fricking one off day in 3 weeks...
Orioles @ Camden: Thursday
Angels AWAY: Friday-Sunday (Possible playoff team)
Mariners AWAY: Monday-Wednesday
First true off-day in over 3 weeks
Toronto AWAY: Friday-Sunday
Twins @ Home: Monday (Makeup Game, scratching another off day)
Rays @ Home: Tuesday - Thursday (they'll be fighting for the WC)
Sox @ Home: Friday - Sunday (Playoff team)
Rays AWAY: Monday - Wednesday (possibly still playing for WC)

This is going to be tough as the frick.
