I'll never forget that HR against the Braves in 2009.

Girardi had just gotten ejected on a BS call that involved Gardner getting picked off.

I think it was the very next pitch Cervelli slammed one out, and it completely turned the season around. The Yankees had just lost a series at home to the hapless Nats, a series on the road to the Marlins, and were struggling up to that point with the Braves.

Jays @ Home: Friday - Sunday

Seems like we haven't seen to much of Toronto this season, I'm not sure what to expect.
quote:

Orioles @ Home: Monday - Wednesday

We have owned the Orioles at home this season.
quote:

Orioles @ Camden: Thursday

Toss up. I think it'll be a W, unless AJ is pitching.
quote:

Angels AWAY: Friday-Sunday (Possible playoff team)

This is the biggest series left, IMO. We either play really bad against the Angels, or really competetive. I'm hoping for 2-3.
quote:

Mariners AWAY: Monday-Wednesday

I'm sure we'll get Pineda and Felix. Not too worried about Pineda, he pitches against us like Lester does. 6 IP, high pitch count, quite a few walks. We should be able to take 2/3. Tex RAKES in Seattle, too.
quote:

Toronto AWAY: Friday-Sunday

I'm going to say we're going to lose 2/3 here. Seems like we always struggle inside that shithole.
quote:

Twins @ Home: Monday (Makeup Game, scratching another off day)

There's a word in the dictionary called domination. This is domination in every aspect.
quote:

Rays @ Home: Tuesday - Thursday (they'll be fighting for the WC)

It'll be a battle. I just hope we don't see Shields. The rest of the rotation doesn't really scare me, especially Hellickson. YS is not the type of park that he's ever going to do very well in.
quote:

Sox @ Home: Friday - Sunday (Playoff team)

Obviously, the second biggest series left. The East will be decided here, if it hasn't already.
quote:

Rays AWAY: Monday - Wednesday (possibly still playing for WC)

I don't think the Rays will be any closer than 5 games at this point in the WC race. The Trop is going to be full of Yankee fans, with what Rays fans there are, sitting at home because the season is pretty much already over.
quote:

This is going to be tough as the frick.

It could be worse. 8 games against three of the worse teams in baseball, and really one one bonafide playoff lock in the Red Sox. I like our chances.

Look at the Game-by-Game

That really sums up exactly what you said. Lots of red/green mix then BOOM, outside of being swept in LA, we pretty much wrecked shite the rest of the way.

That was a great 2nd half run. 30 games over .500 at 52-22 post ASB. SICK.

Yep. August was unreal. 28 games played, 16 of them were on the road including an 11 game stretch going from Seattle, to Oakland, to Boston. And we finished that month 21-7.

We were 27-9 against the Central that year

Results against remaining opponents (sans Boston)

Toronto: 7-5
Orioles: 11-3
Angels: 4-2
Mariners: 3-2
Twins: 5-2
Rays: 6-5
Overall: 36-19

Opponents in August:
Toronto: 12-15
Orioles: 12-15
Angels: 14-12
Mariners: 12-15
Twins: 6-21
Rays: 17-10
Overall: 73-88

However, we're 3-10 against Boston now with 5 left. They've cooled off at 16-12 in August and we're 17-10. Gotta pick it up these last few weeks if we wanna win the division. Personally, I want the division. Not just for bragging rights but...if we do win, the draw would most likely be:

NY vs. Detroit (3-4 edge to Detroit in Regular Season)
Boston vs. Texas (3-4 edge to Texas)

I think we stand a much better chance getting to the WS that way. Texas can roll with Boston's pitching and I like us over Detroit in a 5-gamer. That'd put us in the ALCS against Texas, whom we are 7-2 against this season.

Who you got tabbed for callups tomorrow?

Montero, Banuelos, Betances, Noesi, and Brackman are obvious, especially Banuelos with Logan being out.

I was personally rooting to play Texas in the ALDS, but I actually like this idea more.

The only thing I'm concerned with is playing in Detroit. We are obviously a club driven by HR's.. NOT saying we can't win without HR's though. Comerica is a huge park.

All of those. I think Banuelos and Betances might get the Brackman treatment from last year, when he was called up in September but didn't pitch at all. I hope I'm wrong, though. Both of those kids can help.

I think a guy like Kontos or Pants Lendeton might get the call too.

Brandon Laird as well. This team could use another infielder.

As good of a season as Jorge Vasquez had, I don't think he'll get a shot. Organization just doesn't seem to like him, and a lot of that has to do with his age.

No doubt Detroit would be a tougher 1st round series, but I don't think they could beat Boston, while Texas can.

Every time they get on a roll, they play one bad series and lose all the ground that they had just gained.

They're only 4 back in the loss column. After today, 14 of their remaining 28 games are against either Detroit or Cleveland, beginning Friday with a huge 3 game set in Detroit.

Other than Verlander, there's nothing scary about that pitching staff.

Lineup:

Brett Gardner LF
Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Eric Chavez DH
Eduardo Nunez 3B
Francisco Cervelli C

Word is Montero WILL be called up tomorrow, but Banuelos and Betances will not be. But there is a possibility they will be added at a later point.
