Im going to assume a guy with a 4.2 GPA and 2nd in his high school who also has a masters degree from Stanford while maintaining a 3.9 GPA could do something other than football

I think people are blowing this out of proportion. He's not stupid but he looked like a damn idiot in the interview. He calmed down and spoke eloquently about the game afterward.
