There's more than a dozen women that have played in minor/developmental pro leagues around the world, yet baseball is the sport most difficult for them to play? Baseball has by far the lowest floor for athleticism requirements among the big 5 sports and someone handicapped could make it at 1st base if they can consistently hit .300

The insane hypotheticals and hyperbole you’re using to triple down on this take is probably the best part

Nope. Women cannot do the Iron cross, same with the horse (upper body strength)

Men struggle with the balance beam. (higher center of balance)
parallel bars women are also better at because of flexibility and range of motion.

There's a lot of "sports" that I really consider skills. Billiards, Bowling, Darts, Pickle Ball, and Badminton. In these women and men can play each other competitively and the rules / pace of the game doesn't really favor one sex of the other. I also don't think that fishing and even driving are necessarily sports. I do recognize the skill level needed to be elite at both.

Sports that maybe could factor into equal playing field could be.

Fencing: someone said that earlier
2 v 2 beach volleyball.........maybe

Disagree on golf. Driving distance is always an advantage no matter how short the course, unless we’re talking putt putt.

True, but if we’re talking about one random event, a woman can definitely beat men in a Tour event.

Darts is another one where women can win. Beau Greaves has beaten plenty of men over the last year.

That would be "Alley Palley" as in the Alexandra Palace in London where the World Championships are played.

The only woman who has made a legit dent in competing against the men is Fallon Sherrock who went 3 rounds deep in play and got down to the last 32 in 2020.

And I agree, Darts and Pool are likely the 2 games/sports that a woman remotely has a chance against male competitors but they rarely come out on top by the end of the events.

Fencing? Maybe? I know next to nothing about the sport, but it looks to be pretty much entirely dependent on skill and quickness. Even so you'd probably have to segregate divisions by height though.

It may have one of the biggest disparities of any sport.

A good under cadet under 17 male would beat the Olympic champion woman. I did it at OSU and would routinely beat our olympic level women like 15-8 and I was like top 30 in under 20

You are aware this happened right? It’s the PBA equivalent of a PGA major or ATP grand slam

I literally already laid out how it could happen. There's a girl on the US women's rugby team that's 6'1 200 lbs, was on a volleyball scholarship before converting to rugby and sprints the same speed as an average MLBer(27 ft/s). You have a girl with that frame lifting consistently from age 12-25 and she'll be just as strong as your typical major leaguer. An equivalent male lifting seriously will obviously be stronger, but your average MLBer isn't putting in that much work in the weight room. Add in the generational hand-eye coordination and the athleticism gap is pretty much closed for baseball. Now add in their dad being a college level coach that is dedicated to developing their potential as a baseball player from t-ball age and you're cooking

Also frick everyone, there are already women playing in international minor leagues.

2nd girl throws 86 MPH, that's faster than Moyer over his last decade

And there were women that played in the Negro leagues

This is all good and all. But "A physical freak of nature woman could possibly make it aas a bottom dweller niche position MLBer" is not meeting the OP's point at all.

Got me to thinking if there is any sport where you can adjust the conditions for the legitimate differences in physiology and still see reasonably even comparisons of skill.

I disagree with your point that a woman could ever make it in the bigs but even if I agreed, you're making a completely different argument. There is not an even remotely even comparison of skill. It would take by your example a freak of nature that apparently needs to lift weights from from the age 12 on tand add in generational coordination and having a coach since t-ball and she could maybe, maybe, in a dream scenario she could be a pinch hitter.

That's not legitimately pitting men vs women in baseball

What part of "rarely come out on top" as opposed to never come out on top did you miss?

I know this wasn't directed at me but I clicked on the link just to see. Again, this isn't helping your case.

she became the first woman to play as a regular on an American major-level professional baseball team[1][2] when she joined the Indianapolis Clowns in the previously all-male Negro leagues.

Ok ok.

quote:

For the 1953 season, Stone was signed by Syd Pollock, owner of the Indianapolis Clowns, to play second base, the position Hank Aaron had played for the team before joining the Milwaukee Braves (now the Atlanta Braves). Pollock reportedly was trying to hire Stone for the Indianapolis Clowns since the close of the 1950 baseball season.

Nice! This chick is for real.

quote:

Other reports are that Pollock wanted Stone to play in a skirt or in shorts, and she refused,[11] though she did wear a foam rubber chest protector.[24] Pollock was a partner in several business ventures with Abe Saperstein, owner of the Harlem Globetrotters, and also one of the co-founders of the West Coast Negro Baseball Association.[19][25] Similar to the trick basketball team, The Clowns both provided clown-style entertainment at games and played serious ball. Having a woman on the team attracted more spectators

Ahh. There it is.

The only thing I can come up with is golf. Shorten the course to adjust for driving disparity, and the rest of the game is basically hand-eye coordination. You are playing the course and the mind instead of your opponent’s body.

Except for the fact that more swing speed = more spin which enables you to do more things with the golf ball.

And men will have shorter clubs into the greens which will give them a proximity to the hole advantage.
