I hate the Thunder more than any NBA team because of the way they play and their over the top, homer fans online (social media & here). Glad to see them lose.

PSA: You should reduce your social media time, life's too short to be so hateful over a game. Don’t let others run your life.
Also, might I suggest skip any threads marked NBA. Life hack

The Thunder rely a lot on athleticism. The Spurs guards are just as athletic.

Thats true. Also our sub rotation isn’t great, pairing SGA with non shot makers. We missed our 6th man of the year in Ajay Mitchell, he can create shots. And not sure why Mark didn’t play Joe more he’s our 3 ace. Mark made zero adjustments. Is he saving them for when it matters and just gathering intel? If so thats not wise as it gives SA momentum. But its only Dec too.
Biggest thing today was just not making shots. Missed 3’s are usually long rebounds allowing SA to go quickly on offense before OLC gets set. OKC win all the stats except the one that mattered which is FG %. Most were open looks too.
I won’t panic over the loss. 2 days ago was worse. 1st game was 2 point loss and coulda gone either way.
And SA is here now. Not next year but now. This might be the rivalry we have been lacking. Will be curious if Presti makes any moves at deadline.

The correct question is “Could he win 5 MVPs one day?”

Shout out San Antonio. Die hard Thunder fan but they just beat the ever living frick out of us. They are just plain better.
Like I don’t know how you attack this team the way OKC is constructed. They won’t beat them in the playoffs

Stephon Castle is fun to watch. Excellent defense and playing within the system on offense. The Spurs are going to be good for a long time.

This is an overreaction. Too early in season to make such predictions. They beat OKC and thats fact.
However if you look at some data you can see why. OKC took 44 tries from 3 and only made 11 (25%). Those misses usually turn into long rebounds and fast breaks. SA outscored OKC in fast breaks. They also turn into fouling SA, as your D isn’t set and you end up with wrong defenders on SA. Thats just one area they beat OKC.
Now let’s look at SA vs 12-19 Jazz tonight. SA lost 127-114. And guess what. They went 10-44 from 3. And Jazz had more fast break points. And SA fouled more. Same exact scenario as the OKC game.
Its really not a mystery. Shoot bad and you will usually lose.
OKC did not adjust lineups nor counter SA rotations. I think Mark did that on purpose to save them for later. I don’t agree with him - you give a team confidence but he said he did not adjust to Wemby.
Anyways, OKC was missing their great backup ball handler Ajay both games. He drives more and that means if he’s playing we take less 3’s for bench players. Caruso took way too many. It was just bad shooting that led to most problems. Can’t predict how they shoot in playoffs. I see so many overreactions from many posters, not just you and just replied to yours since it was recent

All these 3s that OKC was missing that caused them to lose, were they open 3s or contested?

In the 25 Dec game they were mostly open. Caruso had no business taking so many he was 0-9 on 3’s at one point. Ended up 2-12. I get they say take open shots but at some point you have to drive the ball and that opens up other players for mid range 2’s.
Thing is they just missed shots and any team will lose taking so many and not hitting them. If you look at the rest of stats they did fine. But missed 3’s led to fast break points plus fouls. OKC took 11 more shots than SA but when you miss so many you usually lose and they lost.

He’ll be really good if he can develop a consistent outside shot. Same for Harper.
