Even now, after two more rounds nearly complete, the Caps have a higher SA Corsi than the Penguins and 5th among playoff teams (just barely... the Pens have been murdering teams since that series... flat murdering them). The Caps have the 2nd best Scoring Chance % and the 2nd most Scoring Chances/60.

They shot 5.4% at evens, which just isn't gonna cut it. Did everything you want to do: dominated possession, got tons of scoring chances, even got stellar goaltending... they just forgot how to shoot. So we get to live out the Darkest Timeline.

The Sharks have been lucky to win one game this series, much less two.

Meh possession is only one important aspect of the game. You could say in games 1-2 that Pittsburgh was lucky. Their all-in PDO is 96 to San Jose's 104. Turns out shooting accuracy and goaltending skill actually count for something....

Yeah, the Pens blew a great opportunity to give fans a memorable experience at home. Crazy how none of their teams can close it at home but I suppose the Superbowl is always not at home. Still, there's baseball and hockey though.

Super Bowl is always a neutral site so it doesn't really count.

Looked up the history. The Pirates won the 1971 and 1979 Series in Baltimore. The Pens won their Cups in Minnesota, Chicago, and Detroit. The Pipers won the ABA title at home which is why they were using the "existing team" qualifier.

I normally hate 3 days between games. But since I have plans tomorrow I like Game 6 on Sunday.

Marc Savard's contract rights got traded today. Totally forgot he was still under contract as he hasn't played since 2010-11.

Sucks what happened to him. He was a really good player.

On June 12, 1958, Mr. Hockey was named captain of the Red Wings

Also, Howe wore a Sharks jersey as part if their uniform unveiling

If they are going Penguins, it must be Kessel.

But Couture has 29 points in 23 games.

I've thought Malkin has been pretty meh by his standards, which is 18 points in 22 games.

Nice Mr. Hockey tribute on CBC. I guess the Sharks invited him out to promote their jerseys when they were introduced.

Mr. Hockey in his 60s would have been the best player on those early Sharks teams.

Cool pic also. They were showing it in NHL Network. I'm on mobile and suck at posting pictures.
