I'm bored and everyone is starting to come out with their prospects list so I figured I'd do mine(not adding Minor or Kimbrel):
1. Julio Teheran(RHP) - Obvious choice here. A top 5 major league prospect with possibly the best stuff out there. He has three plus pitches and commands them very well. Will be at the top of the rotation in Atlanta for a long time. Expect him to see playing time in the majors by for sure next year but maybe even late this year.
2. Freddie Freeman(1B) - Will start at 1B from day 1 but I question if he's ready or not. Does not have much plate discipline right now and I think that will lead to a few problems this year for him at the plate. In the majors last year, he had 24 PA and didn't walk a single time. Hopefully that will improve with time because he will be very dangerous with the skills he's already had. He can also be streaky at times but when he gets hot, watch out. He'll be a lock for 25-30 HR starting maybe as early as this year. Also will play above average defense.
3. Arodys Vizcaino(RHP) - Most people will like Delgado over Vizcaino but I'll have to disagree. Delgado is more major league ready but Vizcaino has better potential IMO. He has a plus fastball and an even better curve. More importantly, he has very good control only walking 12 hitters in 85 innings last year. But there lies his problem, only 85 innings. Injuries may play a part in his progress because he definitely needs to get more durable. Hopefully he can come out strong and stay healthy this entire year and may even work his way up to AAA at some point. I'd expect him in the majors in 2013, but maybe late next year.
4. Randall Delgado(RHP) - Very promising pitcher that is almost major league ready and should see the bigs at some point this year. Has a fastball that sits around 93 and is a strikeout machine(averaged 9.1/9 innings last year). He's very durable and should be able to put up 200+ innings each year he's in Atlanta. The one real concern with him is his control as he can become very wild at times. In 43 innings in AA last year he walked 20 guys. Hopefully he can get that under control and develop his curve and change to plus pitches and he will be a great #2 or #3 for this team.
5. Matt Lipka(SS) - I like Lipka a lot even though he's only been with the Braves for a short period of time. I fully expect him to be the guy to finally bring some solid speed back to Atlanta but that will be a few years away. He's an above average hitter that will never bring much pop, but won't need that when he's batting in the leadoff spot. Has decent patience that will only get better with experience. Expect him to be a .290 guy with a .360 OBP and 35-40 SB every year which will be just what the team needs with all the power he will have behind him. I don't have confidence that he'll be able to stick at SS even though we really need him there. Might have to make a move to CF where I think he'll be more than capable. He's only 18 so I'd expect him in probably 2014 if he continues to develop properly.
6. Edward Salcedo(SS) - He's #6 just based on upside. Probably won't stick with SS but could bulk up and be the 3B of the future. Only 18 years old.
7. Andrelton Simmons(SS) - Most rankings don't come close to including Simmons but I like him a lot. Amazing defense with a gun as an arm. Won't ever be much with the bat but I think he can develop enough to hold his own. Also has plus speed and could be another 40 SB guy for the Braves. He's been clocked at 98 off the mound so if his hitting never develops, look for him to become a pitcher.
8. Carlos Perez(LHP) - Only 18 years old but could project to the next top of the rotation guy. Plus fastball but needs to develop his other pitches a bit better. Very raw and doesn't have much experience.
9. Brett Oberholtzer(LHP) - Another good lefty prospect. He has excellent control with above average offspeed pitches. In a couple years, I see him as a very solid middle of the rotation guy.
10. Abraham Espinosa(RHP) - I'm really looking forward to seeing him develop. He's only 17 years old but I believe he should project to a top of the rotation guy here in a few years. Showed excellent control in the Dominican Rookie League where he threw 70 innings and only walked 11, with a 1.41 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. I hope he continues to develop positively because he could be a great one
Best of the rest:
Christian Bethancourt(C)
Joe Leonard(3B)
Steven Kent(LHP)
David Filak(RHP)

I thought about putting him in there just based on the fact he might have to be thrown into the SS position when Gonzo is gone.
Not his biggest fan, although I think he could develop into an adequate SS. I think he's eventually traded in the next few years though.

Serious question.
When do the Mets ever beat Atlanta?

Braves looking at signing Rodrigo Lopez to compete with Mike Minor and Brandon Beachy in spring training for the 5th starter spot.

LOL No.
He would be on a minor league deal. Purely as depth.
