no, man, I remember those classic cats from my infancy days. and downtown was just like they claimed, had they had a 3pt line back then his scoring avg would be thru the roof.

"The Admiral" -David Robinson. He earned that nickname due to his prior service with the U.S. Navy. I also thought "Vincanity" was very fitting for the plays VC made.

No
But that's a very small segment of the population.
There are athletes who are celebrities and will be remembered by most everyone - from basketball I'd say recent examples are MJ, Bird, Magic, Shaq, Kobe, Barkley... and there are many more who are just not. I bet if most posters ask their mother who John Stockton was they would ask something like "was he a politician?"
Duncan is already way down the list of basketball players discussed regularly because he's done his best to be as boring as possible. D Wade has won all of one NBA championship and he's got a much higher Q rating than Duncan
