Once I got to #8 on the second round I regretted going out again.

I'm surprised my scores were as low as they were (for me), I had a ton of mishits because it was like hitting off of concrete...

Had worst round of the year today, 92 at Cypress Lakes. I couldn't hit a frickin shot with any wood all day long; too many penalties. On the bright side this was my first round with my new irons (cleveland CG16's ) and they were sweet. They are a full club longer than my old irons and I hit them well but you can't score with tee shots OB or in the water. May go play 18 at Grand Ridge in the morning.

Yep, I live in Hahnville. We play our work league at Cypress Lakes and when I'm off on Friday I try to go play somewhere. Was supposed to go to Pelican Point with my son tomorrow but he got a call this afternoon for a mandatory soccer team meeting at school; they just named a new coach and I guess he wants to meet them and start conditioning.

I live in Luling.

I prefer cypress bc it's a bit more open and let's me find my ball more often. Played Grand Ridge a couple of weeks ago and played out the trees all day. frick that place, except for Scot, since he's the one giving me my lessons

I used to be a member at Willowdale in the 80's and 90's, the course was never in great condition but it was convenient. Back then when I worked shift work I would play at least 72 holes a week and got my money's worth. I dropped it once my kids got into school and every sport and I switched to a day job. Now that I work a 9-80 schedule and have tons of vacation, I just started playing again in the last 5 months. Grand Lakes has a great deal if you can play 5 or 6 times a month, $150 bucks a month with cart unlimited golf. I may bite the bullet and join just so I can save a little money even though I do prefer Cypress Lakes layout.

Better pull the trigger quick, from what I heard, they are about to end that deal. But it's a great deal no doubt.

One of the investors told me they aren't going to cut it off at the number they publish. We'll see.

Shot 73 today...played the last couple of holes in the dark...backed up every bogey with a birdie, but unfortunately vice versa as well

We have a couple posters here from Willowdale. I grew up playing and working there in the 80's and 90's.

I know 3 putt, I remember watching him play in the High School regionals at Willowdale back when he was a kid. I see him at Tulane baseball games all the time. I may know who you are but you probably wouldn't know me, I'm an old fart (graduated HHS in 78). I'm sure you probably used to know "Big" Ed W (he really was the younger ED); I got him on at the plant and my kids help him coach soccer now.

you sure seem to shoot a lot of low scores for someone who doesn't man up and play in the big tourneys

what gives?

You tell me.

I've never played good in tournaments. I'm a mental hack. Can't explain it though...kinda sucks

just wondering

from the scores you post, it would put you around a 0 or +1 handicap so usually guys that play like that are either:

1. hustlers/gamblers
2. competitive/ tourney golfers

not hatin'

Double D - Funny story ... The one memory I have of the state championship there is this:

There used to be bushes/trees on each side of the fairway that were used as 150 yard markers. The locals always played those bushes as free drops. Well during that championship it was decided that the bushes would be played just as any other tree or bush and no relief was to be given

Anywho - I hit it in one of those bushes on my very first hole of the tournament. I am not sure if you were on the rules committee or not but I remember you standing there next to your cart as I walked up to my ball and you saying that I did not get relief and how bad of a break that was.

I decided to play the ball from the middle of the bush and punched a 5 iron to about 15 feet - one of the luckiest shots that I have ever hit - and you just started shaking your head and laughing. I went on to make that putt and shoot 65 - 67 in that tournament and to this day still marks my largest margin of victory in any event.

But the only thing that I can really recall about either of those two rounds was that shot and story that I just typed. Pretty weird but every time that I see you I remember that story and it I get a chuckle.
