Shot 83 at my home course here in Memphis over the weekend. By far and away my worst round of the year. Started with a 3 putt on par 3 1st, and bogey on par 5 2nd. Somewhat regrouped to salvage the front, but started the back 9 bogey, bogey, bogey, par, bogey. Never once got over a putt that I felt like I knew what it was doing(my course has 2 18's and this one is just now getting back in form from having greens punched so haven't played it much since I joined).

Only good thing was that I had $10-$10 bets with each of the 3 guys I played with; won 4 of the 6, pushed the other 2, and added $5 in scats. Luckily they all played horribly too.

Yo double d, sorry I forgot to report back. Nice 83, I actually only played the front nine because I went out there not really realising that Essence would have the course packed. Fivesomes all over, I actually just went back to work. 42 on front nine.
I think Bartholomew is in good to great shape right now, but i do not think the conditions will be maintained. The staff is nice but I do not think they are qualified to maintain a course.

I agree the conditions are really good now, hopefully the city has the right people in charge of maintenance. The staff in the shop was real friendly. I may go back Friday if my son doesn't have soccer workouts at school all morning.

42 late this evening through the rain at LSU. Parred both holes in the rain, double bogeyed 9 (hit my drive and 3rd shot into the drink.

Just got off LSU. Was the first person to tee off. Played a round in 2 hours 15 minutes.

Shot a 92. A lot of melt down holes in the front (49/43). Got it together and finished strong with par on 16, par on 17, and a chip in birdie on 18.

I can't seem to break 90. I'm hovering around low 90's. Poor shots get me into trouble.

I think a lesson might be in order. LSU is backed up for a few weeks due to no range (plus they are limited to how many they can have per week).

Any recommendations around BR area for lessons at a reasonable rate?

I would take low 90's right now. In a heartbeat.

Do any courses in the area allow singles if I try and go play a few holes after work during the week?

Most do but I usually end up pairing up with another single eventually anyway. Usually behind a threesome or something that's playing fast enough to not have to let you through but slow enough to make you wait every couple of shots.

There are plenty of talented pro's around town. I hear some guy at Beaver is pretty good.

Have you started tracking your game?
Seeing which areas are costing you the most strokes? GIR, ball striking, penalties, short game?

If you go Par-Par-Birdie to close out at LSU, you probably already have the talent to shoot in the 80's.

I had two 3 putts, those themselves are pretty rare. I need to hit greens and two putt, or slightly miss and get up and down. That's costing me strokes for sure...missing greens THEN two putting.

I am a little erratic off the tee, but it's getting better.

I would definitely say ball-striking. I had two tee shots leave me 90 yards from the pin...and guess what I did? Duffed them on the second shot.

Had three penalty strokes today, as well.

I've said this before in this thread, I can go to the range and place shots and hit em straight with my 120-160 clubs...but when I try to make the same shots on the course and I make poor contact.

I think that's a relaxation/mental problem.

Yeah, the driving range I can kill it all day long, straight and at the flag. If you put a cup under that flag its like Kryptonite to my ball.

It's a preperation problem!

Not to offend you or anything, but chances are you are just practicing hitting shots...not hitting shots, having gone through your pre-shot routine.
