How do you know BYU doesn't belong in the playoff? It's only week 3 and they just destroyed Texas.
I don't know what they could do this season that would make me believe they're one of the 4 best teams in the country.
Texas is a dumpster fire.

Instead of having the coaches poll and Harris Poll, they should have gotten this committee to vote and submit their poll and still use the BCS to determine the top 4. Make the committee poll be worth 2/3's and the computers to be worth 1/3.
Actually, I agree with this. Like the bicameral legislature and executive branch. Checks and balances.
The House of Representatives = The Harris Interactive - where you have a large, widely represented collection of media and former cfb personnel voting. Like in the HOR, every sector of the country is represented. Biases are diluted due to the fact that there are 120 or so members voting.
The Senate = The Playoff Committee - A hand selected committee like we have now.
The Executive = The Computers, the "Nerd third" with no inherent biases or emotions... just connecting the dots and processing the numbers. Have a rep or reps who can explain the formulas and have them easily available online for anybody to look at.
Each contributes 1/3rd to the formula. It would take a lot of pressure off the committee and also erase the concerns of too much power in the hands of a few. My concern is that the members of the committee will try too hard for PR purposes to look like they are unbiased. They will be so consumed with appearing even-handed that it will come at the expense of getting it RIGHT.

I have been saying this since the get go. It's a shot show of epic proportions. The final 4 will not be chosen by merits on the field.

Texas whipped Oklahoma last year.
BYU may warrant a long look if they go 12-0.
