When is the last time you saw a batter apologize for lining a ball off a pitcher's leg?
They all know it is an accident when it happens. If he didn't know it was an accident he would've charged the mound and kicked the guy's arse or got his own arse kicked.

Alex Rodriguez apologized for hitting David Huff last month.

I kinda agree with you here.

Every pitch has meaning! Stop talking about things you don't understand!

If I were a pitcher and I just hit a guy in the face, I would definitely apologize. That stuff is scary.
If I'm a batter and I get hit anywhere aside from the head, face, or balls, and the pitcher apologizes, I'd think he was a pussy.
I can't think of anyone's career that was ended by getting hit in the knee. You limp around for awhile until the sting goes away and that's it.

Like a month ago when A-Rod was practically crying after knocking one off Indian kid's noggin. I thought A-Rod was going to have to leave the game.
Guarantee you if the roles were reversed the pitcher wouldn't have batted an eye had he plunked a Yankee hitter in the kneecap at 95 mph.
I don't get the double-standard.

If a 5-tool player like A-Rod or Beltran in his prime got plunked in the kneecap by a fastball that could ruin his career. Absolutely.

because the Saints defense apologized for helping Kurt Warner retire and beating the dogcrap out of Brett Favre

9 times out of 10 the "McCray" in that situation would look down at Favre, give him a "it's not personal, dude" grin, and help him up after the play. Then next play he'd try to get after him again.
I guess my point is pitchers seem so insecure and petulant with the way that most of them behave. I have seen CC Sabathia apologize multiple times for hitting batters and I really admire that about him. I think he's clearly more mature than a Kazmir.

There's alot of sportsmanship in baseball that's just subtle and you don't see on TV.
After a hit batter, something simple as eye contact, nod of the head, or tip of the cap acknowledges the accident.
Yet, in most cases, it's just understood it was an accident and part of the game.

No, it's football.
so because "it's football" that makes it acceptable
get out with that ignorant crap
power pitching is about intimidation. you dont want the batters getting comfortable in the box because it's your zone. if that means a player has to go down, then so be it

you can't apologize in game, or else there is no suspension of disbelief when the P beans the batter
i'm sure after the game, there was some communication about it

While they were at the concession stand getting their post game popsicles.
