Not sure what you are trying to say? Every elite golfer picks courses that fits him.
..and back when Jack played, they had to play in every tourney to make $$. If they were battling an injury, and if it wasn't very serious, they had to play through it or not get paid.
Tiger tweaks an ab and takes off 8 weeks to recover.
not flaming, but try getting some facts before you want to criticize tiger ...

nicklaus hardly ever reached 20 tournaments a year ... his year was built around the majors only ...

It is what it is. If you don't think he used to intimidate other golfers, you are crazy. If you think he still does, you are even more crazy. the game has evolved around him and there are more players closer to him now compared to the early 2000's.
I'm not saying it is or isn't there. I'm just saying it's an irrelevant argument in terms of his greatness, domination, legacy, etc. Guys like Bob May, a young Sergio, Phil, YE Yang, Dimarco, etc went toe to toe with Tiger. Other guys collapsed when paired. That happens every year in every major. So maybe it wasn't so much Tiger being a mental handicap for them, but the fact that he was just so much better. Playing competitive golf at that level in that situation is hard no matter who the other guy on the tee box is.

Lol at us am being hardest to win. Lmao. We aren't Europe. We don't match play. I bet u can name 10-15 winners in the last 30 years who never even played on the pgatour.

Compelling arguments. But I guess it's hard to argue when Tiger won more tournaments by 37 than jack did in a career.

I'll have to look it up again but look up the hall of famers jack had to beat every tourney compared to Tiger. It's a pretty ridiculous lopsided number in favor of jack. That would mean he beat the best of the best more than Tiger.

Tiger's majors career is done. Nicklaus is, and always will be, the GOAT..
The hardest tournament to win in the world is the US am. No one is exempt so you have to do well at local qualifying then get top 64 when tons of good players don't even advance to match play. Then you have a 64 man field of match field. Yea Tiger won 3 of those in a row. One of Tigers first college tournaments he shot 18 under in one day of 36 holes. He is the only person to win the US junior at every age group including one of only 2 to win the eldest twice. Only person to have all 4 majors at once. No one has dominated major tournament like him. He's also on the same pace jack is on in majors. Look at his record in world golf championships where there are fields as good as majors. Look how much better the players are that tiger has beaten. Now someone with half a brain(not net) tell me how Jack is better throughout his career.
if he doesn't win a major this year, he is officially behind jack's pace ...
and jack had to come of age during arnie's run ... and gary player won 7 majors during jack's career, after having won 2 prior ... and lee trevino won 6 majors ... tiger's competition has most certainly not been stiffer than jack's ... nicklaus finished 1st or 2nd in 37 of 100 majors from 1961 to 1986 ... that pace is a good bit ahead of tiger ... and after this year, nicklaus will be ahead of tiger's majors pace, having won 15 at age 38 to tiger's 14 ...

Thank you for posting this. Anyone that thinks that Jack Nicklaus had to play tournaments to make money is an idiot. He was extremely successful in golf course design and his other endeavors. Anyone who was around then knew that his focus was winning majors. He played other tournaments to tune up for the big events.

It's nice to see you can predict who will be in the hall of fame from this generation.

It's not that hard. I'd say most could come within 5.

Is Speith a HOF because tiger will play in another ~80 majors against him. Is Patrick Cantlay?

phil, ernie, padraig, montgomerie, maybe furyk ...
Posted on 6/27/14 at 5:49 pm to TequilaMockingBird
Spieth will be in HOF. That's almost a given. You can look at guys like Scott and know that. Then u get guys like Webb Simpson and Keegan Bradley who are not getting in. Kuchar would be hardest to pick IMO.

Plus you're missing a ton of multi major winners since tiger has been playing.
Look at what you are saying. Maybe Tiger isn't as good as you think. IF he was that great he would still continue to dominate. What happened?? He peaked to soon? Just saying.
Btw. I love what Tiger has done for golf.BUT what he did to his family ,as the most popular athlete on the planet irks me a lot. what a dumbass.
