MSG probably hosts a prominent event 4-5 times a week in a city of 19 million in the metro area.
Knicks, Islanders, Rangers all play there I think right?
I understand all that. It still seems odd that it is pretty much 100 times more searched than anywhere else.

Not top 10
Ok, the stupidity in this thread is getting aggravating. People are dumb. So most people wouldn't know the Superdome from their a-hole. That doesn't stop it from being a very iconic/recognizable building. It is. Period. It is more recognizable than most others and it's mainly due to Katrina. But that's because NOLA is recognizable because of Katrina. So what?
MSG is not recognizable outside except to New Yorkers but it is recognizable inside.
Wrigley's sign is recognizable, not the stadium itself.
Fenway has a wall.
Jerry World is not even close because its newer. Give it time.
Rose Bowl and Coliseum are huge for major events and definitely on the list.
Notre Dame is just another football stadium just like Lambeau.
If you really want recognizable by the masses,
Churchill Downs
Talladega
Daytona
Indianapolis Motor Speedway
More people can identify them then football stadiums or domes because they are more unique.

no doubt, but that glacier (which I know of) wasn't a part of one of the biggest disasters in US history and the biggest TV events ever
I wasn;t making a comparison, I was providing an example of how localized thinking becomes a huge bias.

Hell, I watch sports daily and if you just showed a random pic of a stadium with no logos, I wouldn't know 80% of them.
Among NFL fans, the Dome would rank highly because of the significant games played there and it's longevity. The average population, not so much.

Well can we all at least agree that the falcons new stadium will immediately overtake most of this list?

I doubt any non sports fans would recognize the superdome.
And to think, some of these guys thought that just about anyone world wide should be able to recognize the Superdome, which makes NO iconic.

I hate when people say this type stuff
Also, as bad as it is to say about these situations, but 90% of the world simply doesn't give a frick. Do you remember the landslides in China? How about the earthquakes in Pakistan? Those killed way more people, and while I think most people here have heard of them, no one can think of an image or what actually happened other than some buildings being torn down and people dying. That's how the rest of the world outside of the US perceives Katrina, except with torn down buildings replace it with massive flooding.

Pretty much a moot point since you're right up the river. Go to Seattle or Boston and ask them.

He said that 1 event can't make something recognizable. 9/11 is a completely valid response to that.
I never once said that Katrina and 9/11 were similar events. They were both, however, HUGE national stories that were on every news outlet for weeks and months
No it isn't. Katrina was a natural disaster, but in the lives of anyone who wasn't killed by the tragedy, things are more or less back to normal. Everyone has forgotten about it outside of the immediate disaster zone.
9/11 though, we still haven't mentally recovered from. We've become even more fear mongering, our liberties are being taken one step at a time to prevent another 9/11, and that's an image so iconic that just about everyone from around the world can go into extreme details about that day.
Katrina was just a natural disaster, but 9/11 was a game changer. In 50 years, I bet if I showed a teenager the World Trade Center on fire, he'd still be able to tell me about it, but if I showed him a picture of the Dome, he wouldn't have a fricking clue.

Any list without Bronco stadium is wrong
If I showed any sports fan a shot of Fenway and another of the superdome, more people would recognize Fenway. If you took a pic of the inside of the superdome nobody outside of LA would know which dome it was.
Bias in this thread is obvious. For a stadium to be "recognizable" it has to have some unique and distinguishing feature. An enormous scoreboard, a blue field, a big green or ivy wall, etc. The Superdome has some lights at night, big deal

Some of you Louisiana people have your heads in the sand if you think the Superdome is easily recognizable. It's just a concrete shell and round. Nothing about it stands out. More people could spot the Georgia Dome before the Superdome.

I know you referenced American stadiums, but I'm willing to bet the most recognizable stadium to most Americans is the Roman Colloseum.

LOL
WHat in the frick stands out about the Georgia Dome? Ther eis nothing significant about it. The Superdome is extremely recognizable, and has loads of significance. I wouldn't put it number 1, but it belongs in the top 5. Never go full retard.

MSG??? I'm a sports fan and would barely recognize it. When it hosts boxing it looks like any other arena on tv. When it hosts the NFL draft it looks like the NFL draft room, not MSG. I never see the outside on tv.
To the non sports fan no current mlb park is recognizable. How many people's grandmother knows what the Green Monster is?
I'm not an nba fan but I hear about who is winning in a general manner. I wouldn't recognize an arena unless it had the team logo on tjhe floor.
Currently the most recognizable has to be the Superdome for mostly infamous reasons.

OP said nothing about who plays in a building.
Show a pic of the Katrina Superdome and people will recognize it unless they live under a rock.
