You would take Marc Gasol for the best PG in the league. Wow, that's fricking ridiculous.

You hit the nail on the head........when it comes down to it Shinn is the problem. An NBA franchise is not a way to make money, it's just a way for billionaires to pass time. Shinns net worth is $106M, in no way should he be the majority owner of any franchise.

This is easily the takeaway comment of this entire thread. Very well spoken.

The odds of a Shinn-owned team ever winning an NBA Championship have to be around 1%.

A. Chris Paul is not the best point guard in the league

B. I would definitely take three productive players that fill major needs for the team, in return for Paul any day.

C. You could get players like Gasol and Butler without trading CP. My post was about trading guys like West, Mo Pete, Peja, and Posey. You'd have to put together a special package deal for CP. The others can be dumped and I wouldn't bat an eye.

Who is the best PG in the league?

Down the stretch in the gold medal game vs Spain with all the BEST players from the NBA (only a handful are not from USA) who was the PG?

Not Kidd, not Deron Williams.

CHRIS PAUL!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, first of all do not ever bring up the Olympics when discussing basketball.

Secondly, I agree that Chris Paul has been the best point guard for the past few years, but he currently is not the best point guard in the NBA. You aren't any good when you aren't on the court.

Right now I like Ellis, Rose, Williams, and Nash. If Paul was healthy he'd be at worst the 2nd best, but since he is injured there is no way I can say he's the best.

I am not one of those advocating a CP trade, I'm just saying that if the price is right you really have no reason not to listen. DC is doing a great job running the offense right now

There's no arguing with the premise, but when he has played this year (both at the beginning of this season and in between the injuries) he has been fricking lights out. It blows my mind that Alejandro, who I know watches the games, doesn't think he is at his "true form" or whatever. He has been playing out of his mind this year.

ETA: And I agree with everything else you said, every one has a price. I just don't think you'll find anyone that will give you the right price for Chris Paul. JMO.

I watch the Hornets as much as anyone and I think Paul is missing the 'it' factor that we saw in 2007-08. I'm not saying he sucks or anything ridiculous like that but something is missing.

If we had a competent owner and a front office then I would have faith that they could trade players other than CP to improve the team. But at the same time, I really do not want to sign CP to an enormous contract that handcuffs the rest of the team.

Look at the situation this year. We have $20.4M tied up in Peja and Mo Pete and it is killing our team. Once again it comes down to needing an owner that will step up to the plate and spend the necessary amount.

There is no denying that his injuries are taking a toll on his performance. He is still incredible, but not on the same level we have become accustom to. Thats why youth is sometimes the answer at guard. Sell high.

the main reason it's killing our team is not really the money, its the money related to each player's production.

i just don't see how you can argue the Hornets are not spending money to win, i mean hell they were OVER the luxury tax for awhile. The Hornets will spend money to win, unfortunately they have spent money in all the wrong ways on the wrong players

the hornets problems have to do with spending wisely.

I don't know man, difference of opinion I guess. At the end of any close game (which, as I'm sure you know, is pretty much every game), both him and Collison have an incredible propensity to knock down huge shots. IDK what 'it' is, but I haven't seen a lack of it this year. End of last season, yes, definitely, and like 99% sure it was due to fatigue. But this year? He's been lights out.
