Apparently a takedown won Jones the third even though Reyes got up immediately and landed an elbow in the clinch.

MMA Decisions is down right now but wait until tomorrow. They'll have how the judges scored each round and all the media decisions.

Jones starting to feel like GSP at the end. Don’t get knocked out and you’ll get the win. Dude causes zero damage.

Zero chance they were gonna ruin one of the UFCs goldenboys on a split decision
BJ Penn lost close decisions to GSP and Frankie

Joe is correct that the scoring system in MMA needs to be tweaked.

Reyes didn’t land a bunch of power shots that round

The strikes were about equal that round and Jon scored a take down

So he wins the round

Did you see Jones face when he ate that uppercut?

Reyes more strikes landed by far the 1st 3 rounds. Anyone who can read graphs can see this

like the McGregor/Diaz second fight when Diaz out-struck McGregor as well as ended the fight literally on top of him pounding away .... but the judges somehow awarded McGregor the decision win

the shite is a complete JOKE anytime a UFC poster boy is involved in a close decision

gotta do what's best for business $$$$$$$

Agree. Takedowns should only matter as sort of a tie-breaker.

If the round is pretty even and one guy takes the other down and controls him for a while, I'd say you have to give him the points for the takedown as a tiebreaker.

But getting taken down for 20 seconds with nothing done? Yeah, give the fighter a little mark for the takedown, but it shouldn't be given much more thought than landing a leg kick. It shouldn't really count as much of anything.

No, go back and watch jones getting his head bounced around while going to both knees before briefly getting a take down.

I’m a purest about ground game. I’m not even for stand ups, but to try to give Jon any credit for anything on the ground in that fight is disingenuous.

The ground should have been zero factor in the scoring bc neither fighter had a dominate position long enough to matter

no champion will lose a close decision.

I hate this way of thinking. So basically the challenger wins the first 3 rounds, but champ wins last 2 and wins fight purely because he was the champ coming in? As you said, bullshite.

Get out of here with that. shite decisions on the ufc side pale compared to the bullshite from boxing.

I think his cardio is fine

His output the first couple of rounds was nuts, some of it was unnecessary

In any event, I’m sold on a rematch. Great fight

You see Reyes get beat up the last two rounds

The third round was virtually even until the take down

He finished Gus and whipped Smith pretty good. Santos and Reyes are just really good fighters IMO
