Would love to see Israel move up and fight Jones

The majority of media went 48-47 Reyes. So did almost 72% of the fan vote.
The idiot who voted 49-46 Jones is Joe Soliz.

I wasn’t following the thread last night, but I thought the Krause decision was terrible also. Thought He won round one and three, did anybody else have a problem with that decision?

29-28 Krause 50%
29-28 Giles 18.9%
28-28 16.2%
29-27 Giles 8.1%
30-26 Giles 1.4%

Hold up a second....
A judge gave rd 1 to Giles when he spent the entire round in a body triangle fending off rear naked chokes?
That was very realistically a 10-8 rd for krause

Yeah imho that is the beat next fight for both guys assuming israel gets past Romero. I just don’t see jones having the power to move up to hw.

I watched every second of the fight and am a Jones fan. Here is what i saw, a lot of sparring, Jones tackled reyes a couple of times, a few connections for both of them, nobody got knocked down nor knocked out.....tie.
I'll put it in baseball terms, each team had men in scoring position but never made it to home 0-0, go for extra innings until we get a winner.
With Jones being the current champ he got the nod... bull shite.
Two, jones is done his last 3 fights were just to go he distance nothing more.

Joe Soliz. Same judge who scored the main event 49-46 Jones.

I guess the UFC is going to go the same way as boxing, picking champions based on who they can manipulate or they think will sell well.
I was super disappointed no one on the broadcast said anything, other than Joe interviewing the loser after the fight as well. It was bullshite.

Y’all are acting like this was some grave injustice. This fight was super close it’s not like everybody unanimously said Reyes won like some of these shite boxing decisions we have seen. It was a good fight but neither guy was ever in real danger up until the end when Reyes was completely exhausted.
Posted on 2/9/20 at 4:14 pm to diat150
A lot of Reyes’s flurries looked cool, but didn’t land a lot.

I’m talking about the Krause fight, but the Jones fight was questionable. The Krause fight should have been a clear 2-1, but the the up and comer losing to a guy with no camp doesn’t help the future. Nobody will remember this small shite decision in months, it wreaks of the corruption in sumo.

Oh ok. You said picking champions so I assumed you were talking about jones.
I didn’t see the Krause fight. Regardless, don’t leave the fight in the judges hands.

Don’t leave it to the judges is such a stupid saying. These are the best in the world at their craft. The judges should likewise be the same.

I agree with the others that Reyes won 3-2, but my language was more about what boxing has done in the past, I guess that could have been more succinct. Jones is clearly the chosen one given his treatment and behavior over the years, him getting the call in a close one is absolutely not shocking.

I agree and I think the bigger story is the noted decline in Jones’ performance since his enhanced drug screening he’s undergoing. We should therefore probably question his entire career retrospectively.

Some of the things I’d like to see in mma scoring is 1) treat every round like it’s inside a vacuum. Score the round just as it is completely neutral of who each fighter is, ranking, champion whatever, then hand in your card, go to the next round. And 2) make every fight a “contender” fight. I hate this notion of “you have to knock the current champion out or he wins the decision”. Each round should occur in a vacuum, as well as each fight should occur in a vacuum. Hell if it’s too close to call, don’t be a puss and just call it a draw.

I think it has more to do with the LHW division finally catching up and having guys that can match Jones' size. Guys like Sonnen, Belfort, Evans, etc. were at such a disadvantage due to the difference in height and reach. He's now fighting guys that are his equal in size and strength but he still has just a little more polish and athleticism.

That’s possibly it too, but the timing sure is coincidental.

His failed drug tests were for cocaine and dick pills, like 4 years ago. His "failed" steroid test was overturned and was never actually failed, just flagged. It got blown out of proportion by the media. Obviously he made some mistakes, but he seems to be trying to make up for it.
