it wasn't that long ago (2022), Strickland was a 25-3 beast ... these fighters finally get a taste of real money and they straight up get lazy and fight "safe" the rest of their careers.

Yeah, Strickland just refuses to mix things up, add dimensions to his game or throw some curve balls to keep the other guy guessing. No extended combos / berserker mode. His corner was begging him for more output after each round. He admits that he's not a strong hitting KO guy, so he's depending on volume jabs and cardio to win fights.
His fighting style got him as far as it did, but it's too predictable to keep working at the highest level. It's like he has some idea about how real men should fight, and he won't depart from it. He might have just been a uniquely bad matchup for Izzy.
Dricus vs. Khamzat will be interesting. I don't see Khamzat steamrolling through Dricus. Dricus is a tank.

I listened to Luke Thomas discuss this fight. He said in real time he had the first going going to DDP. He then re-watched it and thought Strickland won. Seems that in this fight, Strickland just didn't have the offense. Looking now to see if there are any suggestions that staph played a role in the lack of offense.

Didn’t seem like it. Dricus just adjusted well from the last fight. He beat Strickland at his own game but was more dynamic. Sean talked all that shite about damage after the last fight so now he can stare at the mirror.
