So what's the story on Mischa?

He isn't even like Istomin, who has consistently been first round cannon fodder in slams. Zrevev hadn't been making it past the quallies until the US Open last August.

At 29 years old, how the hell has he gone from not even qualifying to quarterfinals?

Murray out.

Mischa Zverev was 1,067 in the world 2 years ago. He had a fractured wrist, herniated disc, fractured ribs. Inspirational.

Right, but even before all that, he had a stretch from 2012-2014 where he couldn't even win a qualifier.

It sounds like a combination of a whole bunch of things. Motivation from his brother could really be the biggest one.

I'll turn it on in the 2nd set or so.

In.

These older guys will be going all out with this wide open draw.

Mischa Zverev

I thought he might have changed his tactical approach, but there are videos on YouTube of him serving and volleying in 2009 and 2010, even on clay.

I could go for a Nishi bagel.

ETA: Or just hang on to win the damn set

How on earth did that lefty slapdick take three sets from Murray?

First set to Nishikori. My hope was to wake up about an hour from now. Gonna try to to shut it back down for a couple of hours and maybe this thing will be in the fourth.

He just blitzed him, and Murray had an off day with lobs and passing shots.

Roger breaks in the 2nd. Kei's serve will be his undoing if Federer maintains this level.

Roger takes the second. He is still serving so well.

All of a sudden the court looks fast now, and the old man is in the zone.

The rout is on.

And just when I was about to say THIS Roger is unbeatable.

But this is what he does nowadays in big matches.
