Depends on what you mean. I don’t think anyone is pining for his return or clutching pearls over what might have been. But going to a division rival and raiding the state for talent is a bitter pill that won’t go away until he does.

After they convinced a top 100 kid to greyshirt I stopped being surprised by their recruiting feats.

Saban's reputation of being difficult to work for couldn't be more false. Look at how many careers he's resurrected. Coaches that have been fired seemingly line up to work for this guy.
Nice how you left out that these coaches he’s resurrected we’re fired for cheating or being utterly incompetent. Also that coaches that have been fired had a lot of options. He’s done this to start the narrative that he’s a “Coaches Coach,” a self serving PR move. He was and is a dick to those who work for him. The ones who leave that actually succeeded don’t have a lot of love for him.

Kinda off topic but not really. Everyone always says that everyone cheats and pays recruits and it happens at every school. I don’t disagree but I really want to know more about how this happens. Many of those kids are raised in severe poverty and if they suddenly had access to $100k, it would be very easy to track and prove.
So, how does it happen if it’s so prevalent and everyone is doing it? Also, what happens when a guy like that CB switches schools? What the theory here, that Saban and staff got to him and offered him more money? Did Michigan put down a ‘down pmt’ of sorts? Now what?
In short, I know the process is crooked but I’d love to know how it happens and how no one every talks, even after getting the shaft from these programs.

Whats more impressive is that whoever he brings in they don't miss a beat... Its simply amazing what he is doing in this day and age......

1) Saban is the best Xs and Os coach in history
He has the most talented team in the country every year yet has been matched by CUM, Dabo, and played tight by Kirby. In short, the data doesn't support your views imho.
2) Saban's vaunted "process" is a living, breathing thing
Agreed
3) Saban is the GOAT at developing the talent he has.
LSU...less talented players, yet more people in the NFL. Again the data doesn't support your view imho.
4) Saban has the best "vision" of any coach in history. The whole narrative on Saban was 3 yards and a cloud of dust. He's evolved his philosophy in recent years.
Agreed
5) Saban is absolutely relentless and the most driven professional I've ever seen. This may be his best trait in my opinion. There have been lots of very good coaches he's "retired" because they simply got lazy. Tubby comes to mind and he damn near put Urban in the emergency room.
Agreed
6) Saban's reputation of being difficult to work for couldn't be more false. Look at how many careers he's resurrected. Coaches that have been fired seemingly line up to work for this guy.
Your crimson glasses are blinding you.
Give the man credit where it is due.
He is the best overall coach CFB has ever seen. I'm not sure why you feel he is being slighted.

I've seen two college coaches on Saban's level in my lifetime.
Bear and Jimmy Johnson.

LSU does not have more players in the NFL than Bama.
Bama 5 star players go on to be 1st Rd draft picks more than 48 percent of the time while 5stars that sign anywhere else only make it about 17 % of the time. Bama is developing high-end talent way better than everyone else.

Both times Saban has lost to Urban, he has had less talent. O8 Florida Gators and 14 OSU were two of the most talented teams of this millennium. Both had more talent than the Bama teams they beat. When the teams were equal in 09 for all the marbles Saban blew him out.
Dabo beat Saban when he had Deshaun Watson and Saban had a teenage true Freshman Qb who couldn't throw. The next year when they both had QBs that couldn't throw Clemson did not score a single TD and were embarrassed.
Kirby can't beat Saban. He is no different than any other Saban assistant. Muschamp, Jimbo,Dantonio, Mcelwain, etc.

And the times he lost to Ole Miss? Auburn certainly didn’t have more talent last year. As someone else said there is no data to support the notion that Saban is the bet Xs and Os coach

SO?????
When is the last Time LSU beat him???????
If you have ANY problem thinking he is the greatest in this day and age of recruiting limits and STILL doing what he is doing shows me you don't know shite about the history of College football...
Give it a rest know-it-all..............
Posted on 12/9/18 at 2:16 pm to H-Town Tiger
shite happens. Bama turned the ball over 5 times. A batted ball bounced off a helmet and Ole Miss caught it and took it to the house. Nobody has 100 % win percentage. Bama was down 4 Lbers for all of November and lost to Auburn. When 2 of the Lbers came back for the playoffs they beat two 2 teams better than Auburn.
There isn't any standardized test to gage X and O competency. I'm sure all the coaches who have coached decades are all great X and O coaches.

Saban never has that head head scratcher loss that other elite coaches with elite talent have all the team (Carroll, Meyer). When he loses it’s a close game to a really good team. Anyone doubting his X and O prowess is dumb

Ive heard this multiple times over the years about them breaking records with recruiting classes.
My question is at this point in time is how in the hell are freshman finding playing time?
