Mike Vick by a wide margin. Dude was electric and a joy to watch out there. Him playing in these spread, RPO offenses would be something to witness

Wrong. I hate Hate HATE Cam Newton. But it’s Cam Newton.

As a Saints fan, I loved when Vick dropped back to pass. He had a cannon, but wasn’t a good passer. He was a better pure runner than Cam, but Cam is a good passer and runner.

I’d take Cunningham over Vick. Actually, Aaron Brooks’ passing percentage is better than Vick’s.

I’d probably rank them, Cam Newton, Steve Young, Randall Cunningham, Michael Vick.

Johnny Unitas could probably be in there, but that was before my time.

If you're talking the 2015 Cam Newton you'd be correct but he's been average at best since then.

It's not Vick either.Hes perhaps the best runner ever to play the position but he's not gonna beat you passing.Too bad he lost those 3 years in his prime.Maybe he could have improved his passing skills and his work ethic.

Career wise,it's Steve Young.I think it's pretty clear cut.

Steve Young is at the top in my opinion. There are better runners, like Vick and Cam, but Young was maybe the most efficient QB of all time next to Drew Brees.

Mike Vick did get better as a passer in Philadelphia. I'd put him right behind Steve Young at 2 given his entire body of work.

Elway. 9th all time in rushing yards for a qb. First in passing yards out of the dual threat qb’s.

Steve Young followed by Newton. If Cam plays for 5 more years and does decent, he will be tied for tops IMO but with edge going to Young because of hardware

ETA,

Steve young avg 200 pass 25 rush per game over career
Newton 230 pas 39 rush

Young has 46 more games

Surprised at the passing stat, but still got to give Young credit, he accomplished a hell of a lot more, albeit had more supporting cast

if Mike Vick got to play in these Spread Option, RPO, and spread offenses you see in the modern NFL he'd be silly

these things simplify the game and are tailor-made for guys like him

On an old Madden game, I created a custom playbook where I could run the option with Vick out of the Wishbone

Steve Young because of how elite a passer he was combined with being a great runner, Mike Vick for literally being the best athlete on the field for about a solid 7 year stretch of his career, or Randall Cunningham for being the first one to do it as a super athlete that could kill you in so many ways.

Steve Young ranks 4th all-time in QB rushing yards and he could throw like, well, like Steve f'n Young. He's the obvious answer.

Though if you were rating each skill precisely evenly, then it's Randall Cunningham. He's 2nd all-time in rushing yards (behind Vick), but was a better passer than Vick. They both averaged about 7.0 YPA, but Vick in a more friendly passing era, and Cunningham threw for about 7000 more yards, finishing just shy of 30,000.

Surprised at the passing stat,

Completely different era. 11 of the Top 15 in career avg yards per game played last season. Blake Bortles is ranked 22, right behind Warren Moon and four spots ahead of Newton.

Passing stats with the past 5-8 years, and I’m sure going forward, are pretty worthless.

If a DT is defined as any QB who can scramble really well, then Steve Young, Fran Tarkenton and Randall Cunningham are the top 3.

If we’re saying a DT QB only includes players who are elite downfield runners, it’s Michael Vick by a wide margin.

And Cam is 3rd. Only 120 yards from Randall Cunningham at 2nd and 1300 behind Vick for 1st. Cam is also 1st all-time in rushing TDs by a QB with 58, broke that record like 2 a seasons ago

2 more seasons and Cam will have more passing yard and TDs than Young and possibly have broken Vicks career rushing yards mark by then too, or close to it.

Again, comparing passing yards stats the past 8 years compared to previous is pretty useless.
