There's no reason that it shouldn't be a big story.

If Incognito didn't say the N-word, do you really think this would be talked about as it has been on every news outlet imaginable for as long as it has or will continue to be?
Read all the Deadspin articles to this. It's about race

Exactly. Had RI called him a piece of shite, this story would be dead already.

If he left the team because of an injury, already that's a story.
The fact that he left because of a work environment he found unmanageable makes it huge. Regardless of what the whole story is, I can't remember an NFL starter leaving a team because he can't work with someone.
Then the Dolphins suspended a player, which on its face is a big story.
So, one starter leaves the team because of a difficult working environment, and then the team suspends the player accused of making it so difficult. I can't remember this ever happening before.
I've used no media buzz words here, and I've given you a perfectly good explanation as to why the story is so big.
Pretty obvious.

You can think it's stupid that people still care about the story, but ESPN doesn't have to puppeteer anything to keep the public interest in it. It's also the top sports story on several media outlets with no stake in MNF because of its sensational elements.

2. the Dolphins play on ESPN this week against a winless team and nobody would give a shite about it otherwise.
I'll take #2

Race is a secondary issue here. Bullying is the main issue.

Race is the number one issue for people who are "team Incognito". If they can make it about race, he wins because the racial element here is pretty much non existent.

Patriots/Atlanta/Greenbay were all playoff contenders that have lost a ton of starters.
yea and everyone loses them to injury. not many teams have a guy walk out and another suspended.
obviously not the same but like aaron hernandez got more attention than the others on the list.
its major players lost unconventional ways.

the bully element seems to be hardly existent as well shitface.

it gave it an extra spark but it was a noteworthy story already. an nfl player walking out due to bullying was going to get major attention.

I couldn't sleep last night and was flipping channels.
Dr. Drew had his panel of crazy woman and his call-in guest was Ricky Williams. It was pretty funny.Ricky Williams marches to the beat of his own bong.

Why? Because his teammates say so?
Martin still text messages and voicemails. Incognito has a bunch of guys saying he was just joshin'.

But Incognito was just joshin', and the sentiment in the locker room is that it was horse play between two good buddies and Martin thought it was comical.
I don't know about y'all, but my friends and I talk shite to each other like that all the time. We know we aren't serious about what we say, and we brush it off. But if someone does strike a nerve, we are man enough to confront one another, and say "Hey man, I didn't like what you said. Can you maybe not do that in the future"

Maybe. I'm just having a really hard time understanding what context one can say he is going to slap your mom, shite down your throat and kill you, and have it taken as a joke.
Maybe this is the way things work on NFL locker rooms. I have no idea. Maybe Martin went along with it as a rookie because he thought it would end after that year.

really you don't understand how that can be taken as a joke?

No one here has heard the call...If Incognito has that tone in his voice where you can hear the jest in it, then it will prove he was joking all along.
If he is intense in the call, sounds like pure rage, then yeah, Martin has a case.
But saying your going to "shite down someone's throat" can't be said without laughing about it at some point
