Solid points.
It'd be a bit of both, cause Durant 5 years from now will be better than he is now.

Though I guess u could say that is more Lebron falling back then Durant catching him.

I would take Durant (and Carmelo Anthony for that matter) over Lebron on my team.
Lebron just dominates the ball which I think inflates his stats. He is a true freak of nature athletically but I think the year of college that KD and CA had matured and toughened them mentally to an extent that Lebron just doesn't seem to have been toughened.
Lebron has a lot of big kid in him which is something that the great great players just don't/didn't have. Lebron needs some real adversity to develop this or else he will wake up one day around 30-32 and realize he is past his prime and possibly the NBA's greatest combination of hype and underachievement (from a championship standpoint) in the history of the game.
Durant is either lucky that a lot of his teammates have developed really well or he has something to do with making them better...Lebron on the other hand is either really unlucky that all of his teammates seem to get worse when they join his team or he has something to do with minimizing their talents since no matter how many supposedly good guys they sign and draft we always seem to hear how bad his "supporting cast" is.

LOL.
Explain how Durant is so much better?
he has a better jump shot, and he is a better pure scorer and free throw shooter. That is it.
Do you not factor in defense and passing?

Da frick?
Lebron was mentally tough enough to single handedly take the absolute worst supporting cast ever to see an NBA Final. That's more mental toughness than KD and even Carmelo's title run in college.

Dude, what are you talking about?
Big Z was barely hanging in the NBA, then Lebron comes along and resurrects his career.
Check Mo Williams' stats before and after Lebron. How did he get worse?
Delonte West- Same thing.
Basically EVERY player that has come to Cleveland has done teh exact opposite of what you claim.

No, his cast in the past has been so bad, but he made them good enough to go to a Finals.
Man, I can't even believe I'm reading this right now.

Huge Durant fan but this is ridiculous. Is it possible Durant becomes a better player? I guess so. But the way Lebron is built and how he plays is a once in a lifetime thing. Durant could become a better scorer than Lebron but as of now he doesnt have the tools (physical strength and defensive abilty) that Lebron has

do players evn do this in the nba anymore?
hate lebron's guts all that chosen 1 bullshite
and when he said he would like to dunk on george bush lost all respect for the man

Yes, plenty. Not sure why people STILL hang onto this myth.
And in case you haven't noticed, lebron is one of the top 3-5 defensive players in the entire league.

This has nothing to do with how good he is.

Mo Williams was an all-star and the best player on his team before he came to Cleveland...and unquestionably in/entering his prime.
Z was an all-star as well and one of the most skilled big men in the league.
Wally Szerbiak saw his production go way down with Lebron as well.
Antawn Jamison is exactly the type of mature, "doesn't need the ball guy" that should be good with Lebron, but we will see how he does.
Lebron is a great player and a freak of nature as I said before, but something is missing either in his game or his mental makeup...or both. For now at least.

not about championships with him its about shoe deals and big money contracts not rings

No he wasn't, he made his 1st AS team WITH Lebron, big shock there.
Mo William's 3pt % in Milwaukee: .256, .323, .382, .346, and .385
In Cleveland: .436, .429
That and his first All Star game in his 1st year with Cleveland. You think that's a coincidence?
Big Z's FG% the 2 years before Lebron: .425, and .441. Like I said, he was on a serious downswing in his career.
low and behold, after Lebron: .483, .468, .506, .485.
As for Wally, there's a reason why he's not in the league any more. He didn't get worse because of Lebron. Hell Lebron gave him a bazillion open looks for 3.

Again, did you not see him take a team of SCRUBS to an NBA Final???
Explain to me how a player who isn't mentally tough single handedly does that.

No clue why I'm even arguing this.
Hilarious.

Those pics are actually very funny.
But I guess it's game ova for your points about Big Z and Mo.

Glad we agree on something. You have good tangible points. My point is a little more nuanced.
Take Kobe for example. He was a great talent, Shaq's best sidekick for sure (better than penny, and dwade) but Kobe was never going to win another title until he allowed other players to shine more...see pau, odom, bynum, fisher, etc.
Kobe had one of the best coaches in the league to help him "mature" and Lebron has a glorified puppet so that doesn't help him much.
Bottom line, I dont see Lebron winning a title unless the NBA just decides he needs to win one ala Wade in 2006 (setting the NBA RECORD for ft attmepts in BACK TO BACK GAMES
)

Kobe is a prime example of why titles are a TERRIBLE way to judge individual players against each other. Kobe with Shaq, 3 titles. Kobe with Gasol and a solid cast, 1 title. Kobe in between those 2 titles, didn't do much and had shite casts. Kobe was the constant, but the casts are what got him over the top.
Lebron hasn't had the casts Kobe has now and back in the Shaq days.

I'd bet half my savings right now(though that's not much lol) straight up that Lebron will win a title before he retires.
And another point on this, there was once another player almost 20 years ago who around his 7th season and around the same age as Lebron is now, and the media and people were saying the SAME exact stuff you hear about Lebron now. That he didn't have what it takes to get over the hump, and this and that, blah blah blah.
That player was Michael Jordan. So, take that FWIW.

Yes we all know Mj's story. MJ was one of the most driven human beings on the face of the earth. He also was subjected to and driven by so much more adversity and criticism than Lebron ever has it is not even funny.
It's this lack of adversity that I think will ultimately hold Lebron back. The disparity of their treatment by the media and fans after equally unfruitful 7 years is a great example actually...Everyone still kisses his arse despite not winning anything. Jordan meanwhile was getting ripped left and right.
He may win a title but he will never be the player Jordan was.

IMHO, I don't think that the way the media treated MJ made him win more titles than he would have had they loved him.
On the same note, I dont think the media's treatment of Lebron will win him any less titles than he will/may win.
