So far, nothing says Lache did anything wrong. He easily could have been unknowingly pushed towards Oregon by Lyles.

Perry Jones did nothing wrong also and got 5-games (just because of a money favor).

I think the OSU story is bigger since it turns out Pryor had gotten so much money for memorabilia and autographs in his three years at OSU. It goes beyond the coach's mistakes.

A coach turning a blind eye to a player's mistakes << a coach paying a guy to steer recruits to his school.

Eh I'm not so sure about this one.

The OSU story is a lot bigger than this OU story.

I would say what Lyles has accused Oregon of is probably the bigger deal.

We are talking not just Chip Kelly but other coaches involved too. A payment of $25 G's to steer a kid to a school, and the request for materials after learning about the Yahoo investigation looks like coverup ala Tressel

I thought he said another 6/7 (after the OSU stuff which he gave an 8) and a 10 in August.

Where would you expect them to want him to go?
So why would his coach talk him into going to a school that cut off their recruitment of him? Silly no?

I spoke with University of Oregon football coach Chip Kelly in early March, amid reports that a Texas man named Willie Lyles was involved in a recruiting scandal that could bring down the Ducks program.

Kelly told me he didn't know who Willie Lyles was.

I believed him.

That same evening, a Yahoo Sports story reported that Lyles was paid $25,000 by Oregon. So I texted Kelly, asking him why he lied to me, and we ended up on the telephone, where Kelly insisted I'd confused him by asking about "Willie Lyles." He said, "around here, we call him 'Will.' We've already distanced ourselves from him, trust me."

I don't get what one has to do with the other?

Oregon is hiring someone to help with NCAA compliance. LINK

Also, I was debating whether or not to start a thread on this, but I think I'll just stick it in here for the people that are really interested in the Oregon story. LINK
I've heard rumors of some pretty bad stuff going on in Eugene and that this Lyles this was just the tip of the iceberg. I hadn't heard of the medical marijuana scandal, but I did hear about their basketball team's payment to the AAU coach of Jabari Brown a few months ago. Apparently their basketball team is under the NCAA microscope right now too for major violations.

part of it sounds like the tOSU situation... except trading pot for Oregon stuff

the allegation that multiple coaching staffs are involved or that Phil Knight was involved in paying a AAU coach for a player? OK that is big time

That is a potential 10 - the money behind Nike cheating and potentially being banned from contact with his alma mater

Thanks for not starting a thread about what an Oregon State blogger wrote.

No problem . I knew the Oregon posters here would be all over me, and I actually like some of them. Btw, I know that you were sarcastic. It should be interesting to see what happens though. It's never a good thing once the NCAA starts checking a school out. Just look what happened to us in the 90s. They started investigating over something that turned out to be legal and it turned into something completely different.

I can't even read the Oregon boards... I saw where one person said Yahoo isn't a credible source . Never mind that Charles Robinson is a beast with this shiz!

I am obviously concerned but listening to Husky and Beaver fans isn't going to crap... they aren't going to provide legit information. Just going to wait for Oregon's response, or another Yahoo article.

I seem to recall rumors being fabricated (I would assume by rival fans) about audio tapes regarding Cam and Cecil Newton coming out "soon".

Jabari Brown's AAU coach accepted payment upon delivery from Phil Knight.
The scandal and payments span the entire athletic department and multiple coaching staffs.
Several big donors are involved.

This is how they get schools, once they start looking at one thing, they start looking at everything. Most schools would be in trouble under that much scrutiny.
