It will absolutely go down before it goes up. Im suprised there has been as many entraints as their has over the past 2 years

There are still a lot of amateurs giving it a try. Also, a lot of celebrities (sports players, actors, etc.) with money to burn.

The game as a whole is coming back down to earth and the allure of the amateur being able to knock out the big pro like in 2003 is fading. Everyone thinks they are the best in the world and most who do it for a living will grow out of it. I did it for 7 years and did very well but realized it wasn't a good way to make a living and I know there are many others like me. many of the friends i traveled with are starting to come to the same realization and would get out if they could. The numbers will still be higher than 2003 for a while but I don't think it will keep it's 6k average. Maybe a few more years then I truly believe you will see a steady decline till it levels off around 2-3k

i think they just won't allow any more people to enter than before. as you've seen they've turned away top pros from regestering. if they did i think they'd need a day 1e.
Jack needs to retire from running this thing into the ground.

River Saves Alaei
After a flop of Qx-Jx-10x Danny Alaei is all in with Kx9x for a flopped straght. However, he face the higher stragiht of his opponetn wtih AxKx . The board filled out Qx-Jx-10x-6x-Ax giving both players broadway. Alaei is saved from elimination thanks to the chopped pot.

McKusick Gains Heat From a Cold Deck
There's was a ton of commotion over at table 72 in the orange section just a brief moment ago. We turned to the table to see three players all in. One player held KK and another player held KK as well . Both were terribly dominated by the third player's AA. The board ran out Q724A with 4 hearts to give the player holding the K of hearts the nut flush. That player was Ken McKusick out of Baltimore, Maryland and he now has nearly 120,000 chips. To make things even more interesting, two players in the hand held jacks and another player held pocket sevens. Cold deck much?
sick

Eastgate went from 8k to 98k in less than an hour. From almost out to some breathing room.
I hope Hellmuth makes the FT just to add entertainment.

Hellmuth going deep definitely helps the entertainment factor.

I hate Josh Arieh, he's such a prick. When Raymer knocked him out in 04 he showed his true colors.
