To have a viable, equitable league, every team has to have a chance and right now only 1/3 of MLB is relevant. Going watch the Royals or Pirates is not that much different than going to a AAA game.
i dont feel sorry for teams that take the big check they get from the yankees and other teams through revenue sharing and the owner puts it in their pocket instead of spending it on their teams. frick em!

I remember one year the marlins were getting $30 million from their luxery tax but their whole teams payroll was $15 million. 7.5 of that was on Dontrelle Willis. That is bullshite when that happens and the owner just pocketed $15 million

Exactly. You can't go crying for Pittsburgh or Kansas City when there are often teams in the same situation making the playoffs (Minnesota, Tampa, Oakland) or at least in the playoff pitcure every year. Heck there are big market teams that pocket the check instead of putting that money back into their teams (Mets).

Sorry guys, I know I'm a little off in my math. I'm unable to see sarcasm or boastfulness for what it really is and as a result of my stupidity, take everything literally. Winning 7 WS since 1977 is damn impressive and the fact they've been to 11 since 1976 is even more impressive considering no other team has won or been to anywhere close to what the Yankees have done. The sheer amount of winning they've done has made my head spin.
It's ok, peej. We understand.
I didn't say this!!! Like I have said before. If you gonna try with me get it straight.

Would that be the year they beat the $100 million Yankees in the WS???? That is laughable.

its baseball. i dont care how large your payroll is, the law of averages will catch up with you. also some guys with big contracts dont pan out (giambi, vasquez, pavano). some guys just cant handle the pressure that comes with playing for the yankees, the greatest franchise in the history of sports (ild love to see somebody argue this).

You're reaching if you're trying to say they're snakebitten.

no that was like 2 or 3 years later. even so the 2003 marlins may not have had a big payroll but look at their roster. if that was a team in 2006 after the players were no longer young prospects their payroll wouldve been 10 times higher

And that team had Josh Beckett, who was an ace pitcher even then. That 2003 Marlin team was no fluke.

I won't. This is a true statement from as far back as the 1920 season. You do know what happened that year don't you???? BTW the best statisical year EVER was put up by a certain player. Look it up and try to argue that.

Agreed. I've always considered the 2001 WS more of a choke than the 2003 one but hey, that's baseball.
