Anyone watch this show? They just started dropping episodes for season 3.
It follows professional big wave surfers, in particular Garrett McNamara, in the journey to surf the biggest waves in the world.

I watched the ones in Nazare (sp), Portugal. McNamara is a bit much for me.

I've been watching it a bit. I liked Riding Giants and this is pretty good too.
I'm not sure I'd be down with getting dozens of concussions, though.

Watched first season during COVID, we were bored
Portugal is insane
McNamara is basically the one that started the whole Portugal surfing scene
He actually doesn't do much surfing at that level anymore but is still heavily involved

Yeah, it's gotten into that some more this season. Particularly the neurological impacts he's suffered from years of surfing at this level. I'm legitimately surprised his wife is still with him with the way he pushes the limits.

Lots of ex-pats there as well. On the list of places to visit.

It's cheap too. Portugal and Spain have insanely low cost of living compared to the US. Like 40% or more less.

I don't know who's crazier... the surfers or the dudes out there on jetskis.

I remember the old surfing movies about these monster waves. I think there were two I remember watching when I was younger. Can’t remember the names though.

I love this show and can't understand why McNamara keeps doing this. Your time is done, son. He has a beautiful young wife and tons of young children, yet he still puts himself in danger. He encourages his BIL to surf the big waves (when he really doesn't want to after an injury). In ep 1 of season 3 (I think), he encourages his young son to surf and you can feel the fear in this kid.
Give it up, Garrett.
