Patrick Brennan as Marcus Daniels
Marcus Daniels is another mid-level Marvel Villain.
They've already introduced Blizzard and Graviton.

I read a bit about him. Seems like a really good villain for the show. He also has some connections with Moonstone.
Also, the actor playing him is the son of Eileen Brennan.
His biggest role so far was in a short lived NBC series by Paul Haggis called The Black Donnellys (also starred Olivia Wilde).
He is already listed in the cast for E19 "The Only Light in the Darkness" so perhaps we will get a more extended origin.

They introduced "gravitonium" when they had Graviton. Will they bring in the "darkforce" when introducing Blackout?

the more I think about it the more I still don't trust Simmons.
maybe I am just reading too much into it but when she was at the Hub she said something that has kind of stuck in my head as a little too cryptic to be a throw away line.
When she is trying to hide what she is working on Triplett tells her she is a surprisingly bad liar.
The camera then focuses on her and she calmly says "I know, but I'm getting better at it."
Also, when Hand discovers them and gives them the makeshift loyalty test Simmons never actually says which side she is on. She stands there silent until Triplett goes hero mode which Hand accepts as proof they are both still with SHIELD. Only when she is sure which side Hand is on does she say anything that would indicate who she is allied with.
Coulson said that HYRDA was adept at getting infiltration b/c they get their targets to like and care about them. Who besides Skye has as many people knighting for them than Simmons?
Fitz grows balls when he thinks she is in danger and is a mess without her. Ward jumps out of the plane w/o even completely strapping on a parachute. When she meets Triplett she starts playing cute and throws that nerdy anti game at him to endear herself. May, Coulson, and Skye immediately start thinking about a rescue plan for her when they find out she has been cut off at the Hub.
Hell, she doesn't even defend anyone other than Coulson when Hand is talking about him being a traitor. She just says he isn't capable of being a HYRDA agent. The others? Meh. Doesn't even ask what will happen to them. She is only concerned with Coulson coming out alive.
She is intent on finding out about the stuff Coulson and Syke were shot up with. She has used others to give her higher access levels than she is cleared for multiple times. She been the one character that endears herself to everyone and has access to quite a few things she wouldn't otherwise b/c of it.

You mentioned Blackout's connection to Moonstone. What if "Gemma Simmons" is really "Karla Sofen"?

Damn. Marvel getting dark on the tv show.

Show is awesome. Started out a little slow, but it is one of the top 5 on the big 4 right now.

Show is very solid.
Welcome new guy.
Waterboy huh? We just had someone banned recently whose name started with the color of sea water and ended with boy. But I'm sure that's just a coincidence and I'm reading too much into things.

would be interesting.
I still don't trust her though.
The dude that paused to look at Garrett as he was leaving the hole in the wall is the guy that will play Blackout.

Is it crazy to think Grant Ward might really be John Walker or Tony Masters?

Wards turn and subsequent actions really shed some light on how dull he was early on. I wonder if that was the plan all along or if it was some creative retconning based on feedback about the character. He's definitely much more interesting now, as is pretty much the whole show.

I'm wondering what their plan is for him for the upcoming seasons. At first I thought that he might be a double agent, and just made it look like he killed the Shield agents on the plane. But I don't see how that can still be the case after the people that were killed in the fridge raid.
So if he is indeed part of Hydra, and he did indeed kill all of those Shield agents, then how can they possibly write it so that he rejoins Coulson's team once they figure out what he has been up too (and you know they'll eventually figure it out)? Seems to me that his days are numbered on the show.

The AV Club review of last nights show brought up an interesting point. We should be fidning out just about all of the secrets related to Coulson's resurrection by the end of the season because it still hasn't been assured that there will be a season 2. And they won't want to piss off fans by leaving that thread hanging.

I read an interview w/Whedon a few days ago and he confirmed that Ward did kill Hand and those two agents.
