I think the mom knows more than what she is saying.

not that we could tell from the video, but what if whe was drugged?
ETA: overall, I think its a pretty good show, but the subplot of the cop "leaving" is really annoying and cliche.
True, her being drugged isn't out of the question at all. last night's episode seemed extremely slow in development and wasn't as good as the first two hours of last week (which im not surprised about)

it would explain why she basically acts mopey for an entire hour.

I think it revolves around the friend Starling. As of right now, I think she is the key to everything.

I finally watched Sunday's episode last night. I really like the show still, though that episode was significantly slower than the opener.
Question..Does anyone know if there are characters that haven't been introduced yet? All of a sudden, that Echols kid popped up last night and seems to be a big factor in all of this. Anyone watch the Danish version online or anything?

WHOA! Don't be asking for someone to unintentionally drop a "spoiler". Let the series unfold on its own.

Touche..I didn't think about that being a potential spoiler

Wasn't he on the first episode (in a small role)? I thought he was the kid Starling went to the find out where Jasper and the dead girl was when they were still looking for her? He made Starling give him a smoke before he would answer.

I suspect that the best friend and mother no something that we haven't yet figured out.

Yall really think the mom is involved? I don't see it that way at all...I think the entire "mopey downtrodden" thing she did last episode was strictly because she lost her child. I could be really offbase here, but I don't see her being involved. Sterling, on the other hand, I can see her having something to do with it.

Hey, I want to get the kids straight.
There's the skater kid dropout with the punk hair who deals meth. Was he the guy the janitor ID'd in the yearbook? His name is Chris?
Then, there's the rich ex-boyfriend, Jasper?
But isn't there another guy? Who was the guy who jumped up in class to call after Sterling when she left the building last episode?

The mother might not have a had in the murder of Rosie. But, I think she might know something about what her daughter was into, that she now feels guilty about. Sterling definitely knows something was up....
I personally find it interesting that the dad is trying to hold the family together, while the mother is sitting in the bathroom thinking about drowning herself in her own bath water. You would think the family would want to be together in this kind of environment
Also, anyone else notices that the aunt wasn't at the house in the 3rd episode.

There's only been two episodes? Right?

Yep..Chris or Kris Echols..
Jasper and Kris are best friends..both of them were the ones in the video. And Jasper was the one yelling at Sterling when she left school.

So there are only two teenage male characters? I thought Jasper knocked a cigarette out of some kids mouth in the first episode because he told Sterling that Rosie was with him. I guess I'm a little confused because the Chris character is supposed to be a dropout but keeps showing up on campus.;

Jasper was the one who jumped out of class. There are only two male teenage characters that have been introduced. Sterling is doing drugs that is obvious, remember her bleeding nose on the first episode? Are we certain it was Rosie being fricked in that video?
And yes the Mom does seem to be on drugs. Remember her sister questioning why she wasn't worried all weekend that Rosie was missing?

Actually, they're counting the first night as two episodes (two hours).
