Because SFP and Carson are trying too hard to be GoT hipsters.

Shitting on episodes that the general consensus says are good episodes for the sake of being contrarian.

I wasnt a huge fan of E1 either. But if the spoilers are true they have totally redeemed themselves this week.

I don't understand why it's so difficult to enjoy the show for what it is. If you can't...then stop watching
Then again, I don't feel the need to validate myself over an anonymous internet forum.

You won't stop watching simply for the fact that you have to have an opinion about everything...and it must be heard by someone.

I gave up after season 3. Season 2 was the peak.

Yep.
Both are insufferable.

Damn slow you trigger people even when pussyfooting around trying not to trigger

yeah i used to be a master of finding that one chink in the armor and then going full bore into it. #maxreaction
now i'm just being straightforward and non-offensive. i guess my points really are chipping away at the false sense of confidence people have in GOT. the inner doubt of "man is he right?" is just an insidious tool of destruction i suppose

But to be honest, S1 true detective and GoT is a fair analogy.
I honestly thought the first 5 episodes of TD were about the best TV i had ever seen. But you were right. With all they had built it was impossible to resolve it in 3 episodes in a satisfying way that complemented the dark supernatural tone they had set up in first 5 episodes. So it was a let down.
What GRRM has built in the first 5 books is just too vast. I dont think he knows how he can resolve it in 2 reasonably sized books and that is why he is struggling. That translates to the show where they have to cherry pick bits and pieces of the book. Things that seem very important to us book readers get shite on by the show because I guess GRRM is going to shite on them in the books to bring this to the Dany/Jon ending we know is coming. Everything else is superfluous.
